I read that the M10X lower is an AK stamping. If it is, would it be illegal to use an AK parts kit and an M10 lower to fab up an AK? Serious question - I've not seen an M10X lower in person to know if it's even feasible.

The receiver is the firearm

No matter what parts you put on it, it will always be an M10x legally. (not counting fullauto parts)

Assuming its the lower that is the registered part. I am not sure

The lower is closer to a classic green then anything else but it is still it's own design. I'd love to see where you read that the lower is close to an AK (link??)

Not even close

Sure looks like an AK pressing.
Claven2 - it would probably be necessary to do a hands on evaluation, see what it would take to give the rifle an AKish profile.

Do you really believe that the RCMP would classify a rifle with a stamped AK-compatible receiver as non-restricted?!? It is its own unique design with a superficial resemblance at best...

Bartok5, why do you always bring wisdom & common sense to every thread on CGN?

M+M m10 and the M10X are very different rifles, the m10 looking more like a Bulgarian ak if im not mistaken and the m10X being its own thing. as for the serial number im seeing parts kit of unserialised lowers for sale, I suspect the upper being the serialised part but all the pictures I have seen are photoshopped and im still waiting for mine to get shipped.

The early M10X rifles used military AK triggers and other internals, I think? The lower receiver, on the surface, looks to have an AKM profile, but without the AK trunion and ejector rivet holes drilled (obviously) and is a little shorter vertically.

What I don't know is if a lip on the stamping (an intermediate piece?) could be fabbed to serve as AKM bolt carrier rails.

I have not seen one in person, just pictures, but the folded lower looks like it could be used in an AK build, albeit with a lot of modification. Ridicule me if you like, it's just a simple observation.

To M10X owners - what is the serialized part? Is it the chassis attached to the barrel, or the lower?

It will be non-restricted then in few years later it will be prohib. Don't worry you will be able to have 12(19) on your license

Well it turns out google is of more use to me than asking the M10X faboi kingdom an honest question or two on here.

The “lower receiver/trigger housing” (for lack of better terms) is pretty standard AK-esque in design. The M10x’s billet steel upper receiver, on the other hand, is unique. That’s the serialized part, but you really can’t see much of the upper receiver because it’s fully encased by a one-piece, 18-inch-long, aluminum extrusion “barrel shroud / dust cover.”

So yes, the lower is AK-like. No, it's not the receiver and is not the serialized part - so whether it can be used on a clone is moot.

Hmmm I thought my answer was pretty close-esque. Guess it wasnt enough faboi kingdom for ya tho AND YES the upper receiver has the serial # on it

The M10X Lower Receiver is about as "AK-esque" as any folded, rectangular length of sheet steel. Big whoop. This thread is utterly pointless mental masturbation. You would be better off to start with a blank piece of sheet metal than an M10X lower to fabricate an AK Receiver out of. A 2-second look at the M10X Lower is enough to see that there is insufficient material forward of the Magazine Well to mount an AK Trunnion (with sufficient clearance for the Feedramp). Game over.

I don't get why people keep calling these 'not-AKs'

They are much closer to Swiss Arms rifles than anything, they just happen to accept ak mags
