Ok. So, i own a mossy 590 w/ 18" bbl, 5 +1, eotech, collapsible stock. using regular rifled slugs, i find that i cannot hit the broad side of the paper target @ 25 yards. I am not certain what i'm doing wrong, other than probably just not shooting enough. I have put approx 50 slugs through it so far. Mind you, my shottie is accurate enough w/ birdshot & buckshot. I dont know what choke is on it, just the one that came with the gun brand new. I just cant hit #### with slugs. Any thoughts, besides "go fire 200 rounds through it?"

There could be a few things but the first reccomendation is to go closer and use a large backed target such as an IPSC target or large piece of cardboard backing. Try 8-10m or even closer (5m) if needed (make sure it is asafe to shoot that close) to find where your gun is printing. It could be a simple thing like a flinch that will put the rounds low or improper sight picture that will put them high. My hunch is that you are shooting high
If you don't have a lot of experience with harder recoiling guns try to find some reduced recoil slugs (Remington makes some in a yelow/green box) and shoot those until you get comfortable.
If you still can't hit the paper at 5-10m then there is a bigger problem ;)

Let us know how things work out
Cheers

With a shorter barrel you may have stabalization issues... attached wad 1 1/8th ounce slugs are going to fly better. Try an improved or cylynder choke and some Brenekke slugs.... a rifled choke tube also helps to tighten up your groups and Remington Buck Hammers are very good through a rifled tube.

Are you using a Knoxx stock?

Try getting closer and use a pretty big target board.

In my 14 and 20 inch 870's, while they hit dead on with shot, using slugs I need to aim for the balls on the IPSC target.

Just shoot more. Winchester Power Point 1 oz slugs at 1700fps all go through a ragged hole at 25 yards when I don't screw it up.

Take 500 slugs to the range, start at 20 yards, and go slow trying to perfect your form. When I was gtg at 20 I went to 25, then 35, then 50. Took me three outings before I was gtg at 50, but I'm a slow learner.:(

Oh ya and make sure you don't develop a flinch, when I watched my buddy drop the hammer on an empty chamber it was like someone hit him with an electric charge. He's used to .223 recoil I believe.:D

This is proper form:

Simple: Sounds like a sight problem (or a problem with how it is connected to the shotgun)... something is loose and moving.
