When one decides to swap out a pump action shotgun butt stock with new wood. How do they get the pristine recoil pad attached without a hole for the attachment bolt access.
Do they cut and then reglue the rubber recoil pad?

For sure I will feel foolish once I have an informed answer.

as a rule 2 Philips head screws about 1 1/2x8 in there and use a thin smooth GOOD screw driver , poke around about a 1" from the ends and you should find a slit
a little touch of grease on the blade can help get into the pad.
BTW the inventor of those heads is a ass. I like Robinson head way more, US calls them square drive.

Some recoil pads are made from rubber that closes in on themselves. The holes are still there be you will not see them if you are not looking carefully. It's good advice to add a bit of oil to you Philips before sticking in and opening up those holes again. Other pads have plugs made from the same material. Plugs are friction fitted so they will pop off when you dig them out with a screwdriver.

These 2 screws are under the rubber...a little lube if your choice in the screwdriver shaft will help poke through the rubber.

Never met a Phillips screw that I liked or was worth a damn either. I just don't get their popularity, I mean I know yanks have a cultural dislike for Robertson screws but we all have Torx now,
