just outa curiosity can a person has antlerless and reg tag does that mean he can shoot both a buck and a doe? or is 1 tag with antlerless validation only good for one animal period?
sorry to sound like a retard here

RePete has it entirely right, one tag equals one deer.

But I think SignGuy is asking about a hunter with two tags. The regular tag, if it is NOT annotated "antlerless" is good for a buck anywhere in Ontario during the general open season, archery or rifle, shotgun, muzzle loader, whatever. (It is NOT valid for controlled hunts!!!)

A tag with an antlerless validation is good for anything (buck, doe, fawn) BUT ONLY IN THE WMU FOR WHICH IT IS VALID. That antlerless tag is WMU-specific, and as soon as you are hunting out of that WMU it is a buck tag only.

Who hunts the controlled hunts in southern Ontario? Do you get another tag if you are successful in the draw or how does it work. My Dad got a farm near Stratford and the tags are automatic for family but we are a little grey on how the tags work for controlled hunts.

Controlled numbers hunts can be either or... either you use your regular deer tag during the controlled hunt... or you can apply for a separate tag for use during the controlled hunt. It depends on the WMU ... what Area are you in :?:

To elucidate slightly on what BIGREDD said............being drawn for the controlled hunt does NOT give you a new tag, and you have to use your regular tag (game seal). UNLESS there are extra tags for sale in your specific WMU and if you are fortunate enough to be able to buy one.

Note that if you, and all of the members in your group who are drawn for the controlled hunt, have already all used your tags, you CAN NOT participate in the controlled hunt..........And you cannot party hunt with any person who has not been drawn for the controlled hunt, even if they still have a tag.

We have seen the case where four of us have been drawn for this hunt (first week December in our area) and only have one tag left between the four of us, so the first shooting is the end of the week's hunting. Luckily, so far we never got drawn and found ourselves all out of tags............

This is 86A, I have a doe tag archery only for there, buck tag/doe tag 63A, if we use up my tags, my fathers tags, my brothers and 2 hunting buddies I think we will have enough meat. Thanks for the info, this is how I thought it went down but the ministry people confused my dad.
