Su-16 any good?

I'm much happier with my mini 14 now.

My su16 had the odd FTE, and grouped in a diner plate at 100yrds.
It inspired 0 confidence after a couple uses. Felt cheap. Dumb rear iron sight. Folding stock is a gimmick. Do not use as a club!

Might be ok for a light use plinking rifle.

For what they are they're good - a little folding rifle. I'd say 70% of their manufacturing costs went into the barrel and bolt assembly/gas system. They have two main problems - cracking receiver and oversized firing pin hole.

Seems most that are going to bite it, do so and show signs before 500 but that's just what I've been seeing. All that said, I really like them for what they are, a semi-auto with AR style controls that you don't have to worry about.

Coincidentally, I'm in the market for broken ones, I've got a project in mind and want a junked one

I've had mine for around 4 years and have put about 1200 rounds of 223 and 5.56 through it without any problems. Not the most accurate however fun to shoot and non restricted. No regrets with it.

Mine would hold around 2.5 inch from a sitting position with irons. Which is good enough for me since I have no real use for this but a general purpose plinking/ camping rifle. If I need a club, I will just use the sks.

So long as you don't intend on clubbing baby seals with it, you should be ok.

Fairly accurate, incredibly light, easy to strip and assemble, takes AR mags.
I used to have a strikefire on mine and found the Tech Sight rear sight which is similar to the old M16A1 or original C7 rear sight.
I wish I found the Tech Sight earlier. Back to a simple and usable iron sight and no weight.
