SU-16 Cleaning Question (Noob!)

Just started cleaning my SU-16 for the first time (infact, my first rifle ever!) and a bunch of stuff came out when I pulled the firing pin out. Is this normal?

The reason I am cleaning it is because it stopped firing when I was at the range and had only pumped 40 rounds through it for the first time!

I am trying to figure out how to post a pic but the little bits look like they came off the back of the cartridges.

Any ideas?

looks like its punching your primers out? I bought one at Wolverine Supplies and they had issues with at least one that did this. Id send it back to where you bought it from for a new one or warranty.

Defintiely punching your primers.

If it's brand new and those are the results of the first 40 factory rounds through it, I'd highly recommend Warranty Repair. Takes those peices with you to where ever you bought it from.

Is there any way to give "Awnold" some "anti-steroids"? Or do I have to look forward to a warranty repair?
From what I have read, Kel Tec is very quick to help out when problems arise with their product. They may either have a solution or replace but it will have to be done through the place of purchase.

its hammering the shyt out of your primers Not good, suggest you stop shooting that thing at once and have a gunsmith or someone familiar with SU type check it out

I had this issue with winchester ammo. out of 80 rounds about 60 of them punched. I switched to american eagle stuff. It doesnt punch out the primers but my cases are expanding alot. Fired over 150 now without a single primer punched.
