su-16 threaded barrel adapter

There is actually a lot of cross sectional meat at the point you are referring to. But I do see your concern. I could make it out of stainless if you guys want. That is the reason for this thread. The one in the photo is just a prototype as stated, and aluminum is easier to machine a quick sample from.
 
I think for what it is I would do it in aluminum, really it is just to dress up the end of the barrel after taking off the dorky front site. I wouldn't mount a break to it, but sure would mount a flash hider. A little lock tite and some set screws would be be pretty good. And really it is just for looks, and I am not 100% sure I would trust Kel Tec to honour thier warranty if you threaded the front of the barrel, them seem to be sticklers for that stuff. To each thier own but I think you are on track to dress up the front of the barrel nicely.

You're exactly right. This unit, having it's barrel molded into a plastic receiver, is already such an incredibly accurate marvel of modern technology it makes me sick to think about it's barrel harmonics being thrown off. I mean, you've no doubt already stocked up on incredibly accurate norinco .223..... I can't imagine the horror of discovering that this muzzle device has your groups opening up from 3moa to 3.5moa. We should just burn this Willisworms person at the stake before things get any more out of control. The nerve of him trying to bring a new product to the market.

Or you could drop it on 3 separate sides which would close the barrel off completely and then your rifle would blow up like Buggs Bunny stuck his finger in the end.

Would rather pay $90-100 and get the barrel threaded, instead of messing around with adapters and/or set screws.

I don't mean to thread jack but something I would be interested in buying (for the su16) is a gas block style mount that has its rails at the same height as the receiver (for co-witness setups). Everything I've found is designed for the ar platform and requires the use of risers to achieve absolute or 1/3 CW.

And in what manner would this gas block be attached to appease the CGN community? God only knows how many different ways that could go horribly wrong....
 
i like the idea, and maintaining a warranty. Still planning this idea? i would prefer steel, and have it the same OD as the barrel is at the sight stop if possible.
