SU-16s in Canada

I was unsure what forum to put this in, but I think this may be the right one (tell me if it ain't) --

I've been thinking of picking up a Ruger Mini-14 in .223 for varmint shooting, but discovered a competitor called the SU-16 made by Kel-Tec in the states. Supposed to be less expensive, more accurate, but also less sanitized looking and therefore more likely to be banned in places (which bodes ill for me, frankly).

Do any of you folk know where I can go to find out if this rifle is restricted or prohibited in Canada? (Far be it from me to ask any of you directly ;).) I haven't found very much info on it at all, let alone its legal status here.

Thanks...

Thanks for the reference!

Barrel is a couple of mm short 18.5".
Argh! Well that sucks.

Not like I'll be having the time (or the money) any time to do this, but if it were custom fitted with a longer barrel, would that make it non-restricted? I know I have to notify the Chief Firearms Officer if a modification to my firearm changes its classification, so I guess that would be okay, eh?

It's restricted on the FRT.
What's the FRT? Firearms Registration Table?

It's been awhile since I looked into this, but to my knowledge, Kel-Tec won't sell to Canadian distributors. Unless it's changed in the last year.
