Yup, its true. It’s a pretty cool feeling when you surprise yourself like I did. I had no idea my stock Savage was capable of sub ¼ MOA until yesterday.
I almost pooped myself. Luckily I had two buddies with me to verify I wasn't loosing my mind.

Details as follows:

100 yard distance | .191” 5 shot group (.415-.224=.191) | -2 degrees | From bench with Bipod and rear bag

60gr Hornady Vmax | 24gr IMR 4895 | .020 off lands | 1.962 to Ogive | Neck Sized | Federal Brass | CCI Primer

Savage Model 10 Precision Carbine, .223 | Nightforce 20 MOA Rail | TPS Low Rings | Vortex Viper HS 4-16x44 MOA | Harris 6-9 Bipod | Acid Tactical Cheekrest

The other group in the photo is a .447" 5 Shot group

Wow! Great shooting!

This makes me really look forward to getting my new Savage Model 12 in 22-250 out to the range!

I don't care what anyone says, Savage makes a rifle that out of the box is more accurate than 90% of the people that shoot them are capable of. I also have a bone stock Savage Model 11 in .223 that shoots sub MOA consistantly, and it has a $100.00 Tasco scope on it. Results can be seen in UnderTheGun's challenge.

congrats on a great group and some consistent shooting.

I am a huge Savage fan and have little doubt they shoot well but the average grouping will likely start to look more like the other larger group. Still spectacular for a factory rifle but holding 1/4 min or less is highly unlikely.

My most consistent average was 3/8mins at 100yds. Some larger, some smaller but the average was about that. Most barrels ended up on the larger side of 1/2 min.

Enjoy the rifle and when you want more consistency, match barrels will do that for you.

Yes Jerry and you are ready to replace his perfectly good barrel with one of your own....
While at it why don't you quote the price to him.
Also I have news for you, the "match barrels" might be no better than his factory one if not worse.

Very nice shooting! Glad to see someone else posting their results with IMR 4895 (most data I see posted is with varget).

Nice shooting...gotta like a rifle that shoots like that no matter what the brand! :)

Is it bone stock or have you at least bedded it?

This message board is full of sales-based advice. It's like walking into a car dealership to ask for advice about what car to buy.

Thanks JEC and everyone! - Yes, I am going to train up for that, 5 times in a outing is going to be a challenge for sure.
It truly is a challenge and takes some commitment. Looks like you've got the rifle and steady hold...hope the weather cooperates.

Funny how correct neutral info is always refocused as some sales pitch.

We are opened to our opinion so I will leave it as is.

You be sure to correct any post I make that is not FACT based and just a selling point.

Good luck with that....

How ironic, that under a former moniker AND BUSINESS, you were the purveyor of only THE BEST BARRELS IN THE WORLD.

You too can keep an eye on my posts just to make sure I offer useable real world advice instead of some SALES PITCH.

Oh by the way, cleaning up more of your legacy... happy customers in the end.
