Sub 2000 damaged rifling

Well, I went ahead and bought the ASR as well, couldn't pass it up at $840, guess I'll have to wait and see which one I'll get to shoot first, the exchanged S2K or the ASR.

Anyone know if any vendors have any Glock 20/40 mags for sale? Think I'll be wanting more than just the one that ships with the gun.

Hahaha, I probably would have done the same!

Personally, I'd sell that Crossfire. The latest Cabelas price on the Sig Romeo5 red dot (with high mount) is $180 with free shipping. Easy choice at that price point: It's got shake awake, and battery life good enough for yearly replacement. For magazines, I hope someone here will suggest a domestic source for you. I recently got an order of Glock and PMAG GL-9 magazines from the IRunGuns US website. It was the only source I turned up for what I wanted, turned out to be painless, though you do have to wait for their monthly import cycle.

Good to know on both counts, thanks. I agree having a red dot without the shake-awake feature sucks, especially if it'll see use outside the range.

I haven't yet found any mags domestically in my searches so perhaps I'll check our IRG. If their U.S. site has it, how do you go about ordering it and having them import? I recall in the past I tried emailing them with a question and just never got a response. If I can get a few mags at a reasonable price then waiting on the monthly import is no big deal. I assume they pin the mags to 10 rounds as part of the import service?

Well, I started the thread so I feel I should at least update it. I sent the S2K back to AmChar(they were great to communicate with btw, incredibly responsive) and it seems that after first inspecting it and then shooting a few rounds through it that the burrs in the pictures are gone and it's coming back to me next week. I'm a little conflicted as this never was a safety issue in my eyes, just poor quality on a new firearm, I never expected any performance issues beyond, in a worst case scenario, some degradation in accuracy. So I suppose if the function and accuracy are good I can live with it, but still I feel a brand new gun should not have visible issues with the rifling in the leade. Probably a non-issue and me just being fussy though. Does make me wonder if shooting a couple rounds cleaned the burrs away how they got there though, I'd have thought the proof firing would have done the same unless the damage happened afterwards?

That is a bummer. I wouldn't be happy about it, but I guess you just have to try it and see if it's going to be a problem. Post us another photo of the rifling when you get it back.

I can't see anything good coming from any kind of irregularity in a barrel throat, but maybe for 9mm it just won't matter. Maybe. I'd stick with jacketed bullets for a while before trying plated or cast.

Personally, I'd call KelTec USA and ask them directly. It might put your mind at ease hearing the same thing from the manufacturer.

Yeah, I'm not thrilled with the response but I am going to take it out and shoot it a bunch when it comes back and see what kind of accuracy I can get from it, if it's acceptable to good then I guess I won't have much to complain about but I just don't think a new gun should be sold with visible flaws like that.

Not exactly the response I would be happy with either honestly. I am not at all surprised given the manufacturer though. For the accuracy you are ever going to get out of a 9x19 blowback Carbine I doubt you'll notice anything you will end up worrying about.

*Further update: Lol, seems I got a stereotypical Keltec. After getting mine back from warranty I finally got it out to the range yesterday and I found I had to crank the front sight adjustment way over to the right to get the rifle sighted in at 25m, it's very evident at a quick glance that the sight post is way over towards the right hand protective wing on the sight block. It's functional but not very aesthetic. Then after 50-60 rounds I discovered that the metal collar that goes over the bolt tube and compresses the rear of the polymer receiver together had come completely free and was just floating around on the bolt/buffer tube......Easy fix with the right Loctite product but I shouldn't have to be fixing this right away.

You should be able to loosen the nut behind the muzzle thread protector and straighten the front sight, I'm not sure if the sight base is threaded 5/8-24 but if it is some muzzle device shims for 30 caliber muzzle devices could help you time it properly.

Thanks, I'll have a look at that and try to verify if the whole sight block is incorrectly timed, that would certainly explain having to adjust the post as much as I did.
