I know these are the super-trendy SHTF backpack plinkers right now, but has anybody addressed this yet? Come up with a fix at all? Other than installing (non-folding) optics on the aftermarket rail no one seems to have in stock? Red Lion doesn't even ship to Canada...

I'm really interested in solutions here..

Both I have shot have had horrible sights (to say the least), and the "windage" on one is set completely to the left and still getting groups 5 inches off at 20-30 yards. Centered, it was shooting off target completely. :bangHead:

My understanding is that the sights aren't covered in the warranty, and neither is the second owner?

Why are these so popular? IMHO, 700-800 is way too much cash for a second hand plastic toy that shoots blind.
 
Huh, I never had problems with my front sight out of the box. Shot a little low past around 40 yards though.

Make friends with an American or have the red lion sights shipped to a PO box in your nearest border town (there are paid services for this). I had a member on another forum order and mail the sight to me. I wish I had chosen the model without the rail though.
 
Had one for about 2 weeks sold it for 50.00 less than I paid for it and bought a JR Carbine in 9mm so I could mount a scope the sub 2000 is what it is cool neet little folder with the cheapest sights on any rifle I have ever Had while mine functioned fine I just could not live with the sights and 5inch groups my JR will do 2inches or less at 100 with cheap bulk reloads
 
There is a company in the US that makes various parts for various keltec rifles and I believe sub 200 front sights are one of them. Can't remeber the name though.

Remeber, this is a $300 gun, and is made to be a $300 gun. Juts because we pay double the price in Canada doesn't mean it is worth that.

Well said. We just pay more here. The company is Red Lion Precision, as of right now they will not export. Simplest solution all though not the cheapest is to just cut the sights off and add a aftermarket rail, still want folding capablity get a little creative with your optics.

I ran mine with a Burris Fast Fire II on a Daniel Defense 1'oclock mount with a Viridian green laser underneath, did the trick quite nicely and the 1'oclock still aloud full folding.

I like my Kel tec. The first day to the range I broke the front sight, took it home put a 10 cent nut and bolt through it. It works just fine, I have bean able to adjust it dead on at 50 yards. I can get a 2 inch group with Remington ammo, I found it very sensitive to bullet weights more than manufacturer, 115 and lower are acurate but dont cycle reliably, but remington 115 gr hallow points shoot the best of that weight but stoved every othe round. 124 gr shot the worst but only tried cheap bulk ammo in that weight, 147 UMC shoot the best and were the most reliable, no jams or stopages. I got mine as a ride along gun on the ATV for rabits and grouse, but I find I still end up taking my 10/22 with a folding stock.
 
It's not the best gun and horribly let down by the front sight. If the folding and compact size of this gun is the most important then get it. If not consider some of the other carbines. Mine had a warranty issue, which Vault did a great job on fixing. It's accurate and ok little gun. This is a gun I carry to the cabin for emergency use. For plinking I prefer my CX Storm.
 
Mine was quite accurate to 50 yards with the stock sights but yes they suck pretty bad. YOu can mount a spring hinge on it and mount a sight to it, I did. It looks good to me but many will tell you that you have ruined your gun. Look on youtube for the video of it.

And yes, it does hold zero perfectly. After 500 or so rounds, i have yet to need to adjust it from initial installation

I found a guy on ebay selling a replacement metal front fibre optic blade with the adjustment screws. Identical pieces to the plastic crap but 100% metal. Looks great and shoot well. But it cost me about $55. He also sells a thinner metal sight blade without the fibre optic strand which I wish I had gotten and then used a dab of red paint instead. Might make it a bit more precise with a thinner blade.

I also have the red lion front sight on my beretta model but I don't shoot well with it (I think my problem is the rear peep), so I mounted a red dot and I'm dead on inside 50 yds. beyond that my eyes are no good anyway ...

Did he ship to Canada or did you have it shipped somewhere in the State's and have it forwarded to you?
