Sub 2k$ scope: shv, pst gen 2, xtr 2?

Looking for a sub 2000$ quality scope. Need exposed turrets and reliability. Hoping to find a used nxs but need new options too. I already own a burris xtr 2 which I like, but would want to try something else. Scope would be used for hunting and shooting so it needs to have a lower mag of 3 to 5.

The shv f1 looks good quality for price but the max mag is a bit on the low side.

The vortex pst gen 2 looks great but I have never been sure about vortex. I don't care for their warranty. Sending a product back and forth suck. A guy on youtube had to send his back 2 days after receiving it. Although the same guy claims nightforce nxs turrets are mushy so.... anyhow the scope still looks like it has good feature for price.

Want FFP too

Any other options?

Bushnell Elite Tactical 3.5-21x50 DMR2, FFP, couple horus-type reticles, mil turrents. 25% rebate on for a few more days.

interesting, I havent considered Leupold because I have no experience with them and judged them as overpriced.

What can you tell about turret feel and overall quality/durability of the vx-5hd? Im a bit of a turret feel OCD, I want clean and big/hard clicks.

I would prefer the low profile turret of the 5hd over the vx-3

leupold probably makes the toughest scopes on the market, maybe next to trijicon. Seriously, the army's testing of the MK4 was horrendous

95% of the shooters doesn't need mil specs. Why do you need the shooting/hunting scope for your rifle to be able to withstand a grenade explosion/bullet hit/or hold a zero after the rifle was accidentally dropped from the helicopter? All you need as a recreational shooter or a hunter is a clear glass, stable zero, nice reticle and good turrets. Those, who use the "toughest scopes on the market" due to their work don't ask for an advice on the Internet. It's all about marketing ...

Perhaps buy how about you suggest something?

So far considered are:

Leupold vx 3i lrp
NF shv f1
Leupold vx 5hd

Can't find in stock DMR below 2k$ before rebate

Strange advice ... Where did you find NF NXS for less than 2K? BTW, NXS is a SFP, not FFP. And NF buys the glass for all NXS series from the Bushnell factory. IMHO, no need to pay 1K over for the old NXS model when you can just buy a great scope from the Elite Tactical line. I had/have both scopes.

Hirsch has a few NXS 2.5-10's that are compact and light, nice for hunting scopes. They start at around $1600. They also have some NXS 1-4X for ~$1100. OP's preference was for an NXS.
Many, many better scopes use Japanese sourced glass, saying NF uses glass "from the Bushnell factory" is a pretty grandiose stretch at best, and outright BS at worst.

As I understand it Nightforce and the high-end Bushnell scopes come out of the same "factory" in Japan or at least that is what I have heard for what that is worth. I can't comment on NF as I don't have any experience with them but the Bushnell LRHS 3-12x44 I have is very nice glass. Very sharp, clear and bright. I am quite happy with it for what it cost.

I second the Bushnell, I was in the same position as you wanting my scope for all the same purposes. I ended up with a Bushnell DMR II 3.5-21x50. Best decision I ever made that scope is absolutely incredible, not to mention the 25% rebate. Highly recommend looking into that you won't regret it.

ok so now im really considering bushnell elite tactical ERS tremor 2 scope... it is a discountinued scope so not sure it has any meaning but it looks like a good scope

Ok thanks guys, went with the DMR G2, looks real good!

Can anyone school me on scope mounts VS rail+rings?

I was planing on burris xtr signature 34mm rings with the inserts and a 20 MOA rail but I see those mounts here and there and wondering if it would be better on a 6.5cm for shooting and hunting
