Hello folks,
I recently picked myself up a nice external hammer, twin trigger SxS in 12ga, and although I was looking for a 20ga this one was everything I wanted in a SxS and great condition, so, I jumped.

That being the case, I was curious if anybody knew where I could get a pair of 12/20 adapters.

OR another option as I know a machinist..
Would anybody know specific design characteristics I would HAVE to follow?

Eg. Can the adapter be the outside dimensions of an unspent 3" 12ga? Or must it be far longer and reach into the bore/past the 12ga forcing cone?

Do the inside dimensions need to be treated in a special way also?

Certain material?

Etc..

Browning makes or used to make a chamber adapter called the "Skeeter" and a company called Gauge-Mate makes or did make "Silver" and "Gold" chamber adapters. Both are much more reasonable in cost than full length reduced gauge tubes. I have both brands and prefer the Gauge-Mate Silver.

One thing to be very aware of is many chamber adapters are meant to run target loads, not hunting loads. I have Rhino stingers, they are roughly 14” long, made of titanium and have screw chokes. All pairs are matched weight and are 7.5oz to the pair. You’d never know they are in the gun BUT they quit making them. The company owner told me people were not following the recommended loadings and were running everything from magnum loads and rifle rounds to steel shot through them. He quit manufacturing them because he dodn’t want a liability issue. Mine work great. The 410’s are the only ones that can use field loads and are chambered for 3” ammo. The rest are 2 3/4” and 1200 fps second loads max! I’ve used Browning Little Skeeters but they lose lots of velocity. They are ok to about 20 yards on clays. After that there isn’t much oomph left.

There is a thread in the deep caverns of ancient posts where a member made up a gauge adapter for his (I wanna say 10 gauge) but likely a 12 gauge a few years back.
It turned out to work very well for him.
A machinist should be able to figure out the dimensions needed by using a spent shot and measure in order to make a chamber adapter.
Have you tried checking out ewe toob ?
