That is the way I took it also
Totally understand mac but there are exceptions . I myself shoot better with less recoil and light loads but there are mussle heads out there that like to get beat up and don't think they can break targets with light loads and that 's OK. because a lot of them can out score me most of the time.
One thing most if not all I know that shoot shotgun move down to light weight sub gauges not up to heavy recoil guns but good try on the recovery

Also know some more advanced age fellers being very non competitive types do gravitate towards sub ga.
7.5s work well in the 28 for field loads.
To funny mac and myself and a few other old duffers on here load and shoot a lot of 10 gauge. The one bad habit I developed with the 10 gauge was killng Canada geese at long ranges.

I often shoot a 20 gauge hammer SxS for birds .
CYL/ IC. Shot a round of skeet this morning with 1,230 FPS 7.5's, all low gun doubles -17.
Over on the wobble trap with the same load I shot an 18 with the IC barrel.
I think I will be okay for upland and waterfowl this fall.

Try blackpowder 10 gauge. Just a little loss in range however still superior patterns than 12 gauge 3inch steel.
