I am interested in buying a 10-22 but as most of my rimfire shooting is done in the winter I am wondering how the ruger does in extreme cold. My experience with a single shot toz was no failures to fire in extreme cold. My ruger 22/45 works well till about 10 below zero then I start having failures. My colt conversion for the Ar-15 works perfectly until about the end of August:) Any one have any experience shooting thier 10 22 in extreme cold.

Degrease it or you will be carrying a small inefficient club. I was hunting with a buddy in near Thunder Bay. His 10/22 was not degreased and at -18C it would not fire - probably a frozen firing pin. My Mossberg 500 worked just fine so I got the rabbits that we flushed that day.

I've gone shooting a lot in the winter in Thunder Bay. My M-14 NEVER failed to fire a round. Neither did my 10/22 or my benelli nova. This was all in -20-30 degree weather.
