Sub2000 Barrel fix question

The barrel on my Sub2k became loose. After resetting it, threading it as far back as the upper feeding fin allows, I applied loctite and tightened down the lock nut. Now when I shoot it there is a fair amount of charring on the brass that didn't occur before my barrel fix. Whats going on? Is it a worry? And what did I do wrong?

Is that the same ammo as before?

The brass isn’t sealing the chamber from the barrel gas. If it’s the same ammo and it didn’t do it before I feel like your chamber is too long for the case perhaps. I’d take it to a smith or try a go no go gauge but I’m no gunsmith so take my free advice for what it’s worth

You will have a hard time sending it to a gun smith you can’t even send it to keltec for warranty as that rifle is prohibited by oic.

I'm not sure what the upper feeding fin is? In the diagram below can you point it out? part 100 should sit flush in part 102 so the bolt can fully close and headspace correctly. if the hinge is damaged the barrel may come loose and the bolt may not headspace correctly.

This. Before I found out Sub 2000 made the list I decided to go shoot some papers, almost got myself into trouble.

The upper feeding fin is part 271. The barrel is slightly protruding out of the back of part 102, it is not sitting flush. If it is supposed to be flush like you say, that may be the problem. I had threaded it back towards the bolt as far as I could, my thinking of the bolt fully closing was the opposite of your logic!

The upper feed ramp is part number 247. I Don't have part 100 sitting flush in part 102, it is protruding out the back slightly. Maybe that is my problem? Thanks for your help!

Absolutely nothing. It was a stupid comment to make, that completely ignored your entire post about the change occurring after having taken the barrel out and reset it.

Try a different brand of ammo. In reloading that smoky case means not enough pressure to properly seal the chamber
