18.5" barrel doesn't look too goofy. CAD price seems fair at $750 (add in the cost of an optic). In the US the Gen3 has been consistently cheaper than the Gen2 (without the rebates) - Gen3 likely costs less to make without those sight assemblies and extra barrel threading?
I gunna pass, but still pleased it got a release in Canada.
It is an interesting concept but I am skeptical about the long term viability / reliability of the rotate and flip mechanism.
This may be a totally cheesy comparison, but when I first saw the video showing this, the VERY FIRST thing that came to my mind was an old Transformers robot figurine, Soundwave, from the 1980s that I had. It too had legs that rotated and then flipped. Over time, those legs became the weakest part of the toy and the darn thing wouldn't even stand up properly. I think parts of Megatron had the same concept and the results were the same. Yes, that was a cheeseball plastic toy and this is...well a more expensive plastic toy, but I dunno... I am just not convinced anything that rotates and then flips will maintain the same rigidity and tightness over time.
I do comment Keltec for at least trying to address one of the more prominent shortcomings of the Gen2. Pricing is surprisingly reasonable, as I expected this to be close to the 1K mark. Maybe they are trying to attract some of the folks who are eyeing the 1K FPC.
I received mine today. Pretty happy with it, hoping to get out shooting this weekend. Locks up tight. Forend twists to either direction. No need to worry about the hinge point. LOP is kinda short for me, but not the end of the world.
Thanks, I am aware though. I just find with the LOP fully extended the locking mechanism is difficult to operate.
I haven't handled one but that crossed my mind as something that would need adjusting to.
I see people online trying to deploy these guns as fast as possible as if they were in an old west showdown at high noon...
The other easy move to adjust length of pull without doing anything to the gun is to square your shoulders to the target and push the gun forward off your chest or shoulder's "pocket"
The Missouri Tactical buttpad adds the equivalent of another notch length to the LOP, and helps seat higher up in the shoulder. Amazon price tends to swing between $40 and $50, I don't recall seeing it sold elsewhere in Canada.

Yes janky is bad... the swivel pivot would be a weak point. I get the need, so you don't have to remove the optic, but there has to be a better way (a la S&W FPC). Those that love sub2k's really love them, those that don't really don't... its a divisive carbine to be sure.

I've heard the term but just searched for a definition.... the new tech definition around software bugs is probably where I heard it most recently.Keltec's in general are divisive but there's no denying they have come up with some interesting designs. Maybe one day they will re-introduce a steel and alloy version of the Sub2K!

On a serious note: There is a reason keltec is using polymer for everything.... (**cough** and MAGPUL) ** They can mold it, and it requires no CNC or metal work. Their whole business is based off of this. Mass produced polymer "quasi-junk" ... If they actually made 6061 or 7075 alum version of their designs, Im SURE THEY would MOON .... that would take their "little florida gun manf" business to another level. They would literally go from "$10M USD to $100M USD"^1 revenue to $500M+

KELTEC is great for a range toy or bush gun, but personally I would look for something more reliable longterm.
