Sub2000 Modifications and ideas..

Ok I'll upload the video tonight, and we'll try to figure out what it is..

when you say locked do you mean safety? or bolt locked back, because the sub2k doesn't lock bolt open after you shoot last round, if you mean safety then my safety will not lock unless the trigger is pulled either.

No, I mean when you pull the charging handle all the way back and then let it slam forward, it won't go all the way it stops about 15 mm from locked in position. That is unless I hold the trigger pressed while letting the handle go, if I do that, it shuts properly.
I also noticed that when c.handle is stuck in above mentioned position, and I try to push on it to close, the trigger moves a bit, so it almost looks like the bolt gets cut on some part of trigger mechanism.
I havn't taken apart the receiver so it's hard for me to visualize the problem, and give better description..

Maybe I changed a position of some part when I pulled out a "folder" pin to remove rear sight...

Ok thanks for clarifying, i dont have that issue, hope its nothing major.

I think the beauty of the Sub2000 is its simplicity.

Yup, that's just it. Simple, I can fold it up and it goes in my backpack. The only thing I added was the butt stock attachment and a sling. I won't do anything else to it.

I bought some of the Glock 10/33 round KCI mags for it. They do look kind cool and also work well.

Im curious, why go with a 33 round mag sticking out 6 inches below the grip if its pinned to 10 anyways and could be flush? Is it like an AR 5/30 mag ? just for looks ?

I was curious about these. Sounds like there the perfect truck gun. Folded I could fit it under the rear seat of my truck. I dont mind the fact that they feel and look cheap, because they work. However, when i saw the price tag for the Canadian model I almost shat myself laughing. Oh well.

Don't get me wrong, I wanted to love this thing... I thinks it's an awesome design... just not worth $700 after taxes. It's assembled very cheaply. These guns sell for $280 new in the USA and $600 here??? Someone is making a killing!

And Yes... the offset front site housing and failure to sight it in at the factory has ruined my experience.

Has anyone found a soft case that the Sub2000 would fit in folded? I hoped to get the Kel-Tec case but they didn't bring them into Canada.

I think something around 20"x9" would work.

Ok guys help me out here..i think i found the problem thats causing an issue i mentioned earlier today..

look at this video.. first i'll be pressing the trigger, then try to release the bolt, but there is something (looks like disconnector of some sort) in the left bottom corner that gets in the way.. remember if the trigger is pressed, it doesnt happen..

Please click on the video to watch:

I had hoped that they would be cheaper, and I hoped that when people sold them on the exchange that the prices would be more reasonable. They are not they seem to be selling at that price retail and used. I ponied up this week.

Dmitri: I watched your video several times... I see your problem.

The disconnect notch on the 'Trigger Bar' is the part you see moving at the start of the video.
When you send the bolt home, you can see that it actually makes hard-contact with the bolt and then gets STUCK or "hung up" on it.

Anyway, that's the problem.

Now, why is that happening??

Theories:
Either your trigger bar is out of spec (I wouldn't rule that out)
or
You had the same turd who assembled both BCViking's and my gun assemble your gun.

Solutions:
Take it all apart and put it back together again to see if it gets fixed.

Be prepared for a shocker though, you'll appreciate every other gun you've ever owned once you get into the guts of these plastic-fantastics.

*The notch you see on your 'Trigger Bar' does appear to be very long... mine is much shorter in comparison. At the point your bolt gets "hung up" you can see the edge of the notch sticking out, on mine if it completely out of sight. This is why I believe it was assembled incorrectly, or that trigger bar is bent or out of spec.

Definitely not normal and I would be choked.

I've completely stripped mine already... not for the faint of heart.

1. Remove the bolt & recoil spring from the stock (comes out the rear).
2. Loosen the tube nut
3a). Remove C-Clip from safety
3b). Remove all screws from both sides (have digital camera ready to go)
4. Pry apart the plastic halves until the ejection port side finally comes off (it will feel like you are breaking it)
5. Take pics of spring locations
6. Barrel comes out when one half is removed.
7. Tube comes out last after all the internal crap is removed.

It was after taking it apart and putting it back together that I truly appreciated the rip-off that has occurred. LOL!

I really wish Kel-Tec sent the Sub9 to Canada - That is what we should have got for the price. Seriously!! The Sub9 looks awesome!!! Discontinued in the USA because it sold for $700'ish... Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm We were all sold unserviceable, disposable guns for the price of a nice handgun. :( God I feel ripped.

I'll officially stop my moaning now... sorry all. :) Happy Sunshine Summer Day~ fallalalala

Man.. i wish i red this before i went downstairs to work on my Sub... :)

Good news though, i fixed my issue. It was a long process, i felt frustrated few times.. :) must have reassembled the thing 10 times.. ended up giving a trigger bar lip a bit of a bevel so bolt flies right through now every time..
also polished sear to hammer connection. w:h:

Tomorrow i'll be going to the range.. we'll see how she performs with a new setup. :sniper:

Anybody here, seen or tried this option to mount an optic (red dot) on the S2K, without having to install a Red Lion Precisions Turn Barrel?

Here is a Homemade folding scope mount. The mount is made of a spring-loaded door hinge with 2 steel plates...

From the creator:
The idea of using a spring-loaded door hinge.

Well, I headed of to the hardware store, and found a 4" spring door hinge for $15.00, and it even came with a nice black powder coat!

The spring's tension is adjustable, and quite powerful on it's lowest adjustment (which I used). It simply mounts to a steel plate inside the front handguard, and has a 1913 style rail screwed into the other side.

All of the work was fairly simple to do with a manual vertical mill, and only took about 2 1/2 hours.

As I state in the video, I recommend tapping the holes on the mounting plate a bit closer to the edges, just to keep the clearance holes in the handguard a bit further from the edges (where they meet in the center).

Anyway, it has worked great for us so far, with several hundred rounds down range, with no stray from zero. Feel free to put this video wherever you like, and if you are interested in a copy of my plans, just send me a message, and I'm sure we can work something out.
