Yesterday, I drove to my local (60kms one way) Service Ontario to submit my turkey course exam. Upon arrival I was shocked to learn that the MNR won't allow the exams to be inputted until March 1st (also the day you can buy tags I think). So if you have recently completed the exam, don't bother going to Service Ontario until March 1st or later. I also wrote a letter to the MNR asking that they either change this or make it apparent on the home DVD receipt.

I had the same isse (without the drive luckily.)
My instructor had led me to beleive I could have done it all at the same time, but alas we have to wait till Mar 1. Kind of a waste considering now I will get another outdoor/hunting card with the T designation on it only a few weeks after getting a new one.

I have not yet taken the Turkey course, but will in the future. Is it available to do online? or is it a course you have to take at a classroom somewhere. It would be great if it was available online.

I also found this out a few weeks ago when I took Hunter safety results to Service Ontario.
I tried to give the lady the results of my Turkey test, but she said the same thing -- come back in March.

However, I got a pleasant surprise yesterday -- my Outdoors card arrived in the mail and it has H1 T on it... so I am guessing the that instructor who did my Turkey test submitted the form to the MNR, so they issued me my T when they issued the Outdoors card.

Magellann -- I don't know if you can take the test online, but you can buy the DVD, watch it at home, then visit a Turkey licensed Hunter Ed instructor to challenge the test. It is a very easy test. http://www.ofah-cps.com/turkey/DVD.cfm

Nice! I hope to get a new card as well once I hand it in.

Yup. All I did was order the DVD and book the test with a local instructor. I think it took about 20 minutes in total. Apparently, some instructors will do it over skype as well.

You can do the course via DVD as has been mentioned but you CAN also take the test online with an instructor via Skype. I did this one week ago and it was nice to sit in the comfort of my home with a pint of beer and do the test!
