I'm waiting for Puro to hand me my Marlin 7000 anyday now. :D

That being said, I was wondering if subsonic 22LR will complete the action cycle? As anyone tried it in a semi .22?

CB longs work great in my 10/22... as long as I don't mind pretending it is a straight pull bolt action.

I had some remington Subsonics that would occasionally work but usually not.

You will likely need "high velocity" ammo to reliably cycle a semi. That being said I have a Marlin 60 which goes into single shot stealth mode with cb longs for early season squirrels. (Yum!)

You'll love the 7000, great purchase.. Just ask Hicaliber ;)

I have only tried CB longs and they don't cycle in any of my various .22 auto loaders. On the + side they are as loud as a finger 'snap'

Subsonics may not have enough "umph!" to cycle the blowback action. I stay with standard & hypervelocity in mine.. I have never seen the logic in making an already minimal calibre...........slower. I guess it's an application thing. Charging field mice in Graddad's barn, or perhaps an enraged pigeon?

More like not having the local SWAT team kick down your front door in response to a frantic phone call from a neighbor who heard a "gunshot", because you "dispose" of the odd pest/varmint/rodent once in awhile ...

Thanks!
Am I right to assume that Hyper Velocity rounds are safe for use in a semi?

Yup. I use Quick Shoc in my 7000. So far so good. I've only had it for a couple weeks though and haven't tried that many different bullets. I'm heading out tomorrow morning for some gopher plugging and will probably try a few different bullets then.

You'll love your 7000! Not the prettiest .22 out there, but it works.

I've been useing Remington Subsonics in my Ruger 10/22 for 3 years now on gophers. I never had any problems. That ammo works the action just fine, even when it's dirty. I've also tried CB's, but they won't work the action in my 10/22. Buy a box of the Remington Subsonics, and give them a try, you'll be happy.

Stupid neighbours and their stupid concerns about gunfire shattering their afternoon tea...there should be a law against that!

By that, I mean - a law againt neighbors like that. I'm fairly confident Municipal Bylaws, Provincial Statutes, and even the Criminal Code of Canada have covered the whole discharging a firearm in a residential area "thing".

My buckmark will cycle with anything.

As far as you guys who havent had any luck with the subs, pick up some of the aguilia SSS's (sniper sub-sonic) The use a standard powder charge, so your action will cycle, but the use a 60 gr (not a typo) bullet to keep the speeds down below sonic. As a side note, that heavy bullet delivers a sh*t load of energy to the target. Just the ticket for coons.
