Substitutes for Trail Boss

I re-started loading a few years back and liked Trail Boss because of it's bulky nature, filling a .45 Colt Case.
What other nice bulky powders are out there I can use in .45 Colt?

Unique has been a standard in 45 Colt for years. Another I use is 700x due to being given over 10lbs of it. Both work well.

There are other powders you can use with similar burn rates but they don't have the bulk. Refer to a burn rate chart for ideas of what powders to look for in your loading data.

Tin Star is another powder marketed similarly to Trail Boss but I don't know much about it.

Or go old school and use black powder or a substitute and get the authentic experience.

Has anyone seen Unique for sale anywhere in the last couple of years? It is good in 45 Colt, but seems impossible to get anywhere near me.

Unique is slowly filtering in. You have to keep checking as it usually doesn’t last long.

Why not something a little faster like Red Dot or Titegroup? If something a tad slower maybe Green Dot if Unique is hard to find? Everything seems hard to find, lol.

I still use TrailBoss, however for regular smokeless powders I found Tite Group to be the best for my 45LC revolvers - it is not positional dependent which is something I had heard about most other small volume pistol powders.

I have been using Red Dot for years to make the PF of 150 in Wild Bunch (CAS side matches). Unique seems to have vanished altogether in both the US & Canada.
