A few years ago, I bought a 1973 Browning B78 in 30.06 caliber. According to the serial number it was #53 in the production run. Anyway, since owning it, I've never been happy with the accuracy. I did some research online and discovered that this model's fore end can be too tight to the barrel. I couldn't slide a paper between the two. A simple fix was to add a couple of small washers on the screw that fastens the fore end to the hanger arm under the barrel.

I was at the range yesterday and was testing some loads that I worked up and got sub 1" accuracy! First time for me with any firearm. I noticed that the rifle shoots quite a bit lower since I did the tweak. I also switched powder from W760 to RL22. I'm a happy gunner!
