Im looking for a gun belt, I was looking at the blackhawk instructors gun belt but cant find anyone who sells them in canada...
does anyone have suggestions for something similar?

Try a hardware store, in the toolbelt section. You may find something that fits your needs there. Probably at a third of the cost.

511 makes a decent rigid belt for sub 50 bucks. The double sided belt is around 25. Then again this all depends on what you consider inexpensive.

The belt is one of the least expensive parts of your IPSC gear so I wouldn't skimp on it.

+1 to this, the CR/Double Alpha belts are great. If you want a 'wilderness' style belt like the Blackhawk! one you mention, consider the ones made by 5.11. There are several dealers in Ontario (site sponsor Urban Tactical in Brantford for one) who carry their stuff and depending on where you live you may have to mail order anyhow.

I'd get a cobra buckle belt from any one of half a dozen different suppliers...usually run around $60.

If CR Speed belts were $50...I'd still spend the extra ten to get a cobra belt.

I don't know if anyone's looked at the 5.11 double duty TDU belts...the standard TDUs were floppy and useless but the double duty is 2 layers and 5-stitch, might be decently stiff.

They're worth about $25, I think. dstactical carries them.

Or LA Police Gear ships to Canada...lots of cheap options there.

Places to look in Canada

One Shot Tactical, Sheep Dog Tactical, Full Spectrum Gear, DS Tactical, Urban Tactical (Winnipeg/Branford), Rampart International, CTOMS, Seals Action Gear, CP Gear, Drop Zone Tactical, Integrated Combat Equipment, and Millbrook.

Places to look in US

Original SOE Gear, Ares Gear, 5.11, Crye Precision, First Spears, Aries Tactical and Blue Force Gear.

Now personally, I would go with an SOE Every Day Carry (EDC) Belt or Ares Gear Ranger Belt they both use cobra buckles come a 1.5 inch and will thread through the loops in your jeans or tactical/combat pants. Both belts offer a rigid fit and can handle more weight then you are willing to put on your hips. I run a Original SOE Gear EDC Belt in uniform literally everyday and have had no issues other then I want another. A very good friend of mine runs an Ares Ranger Belt and swears by it. They are custom made to order so it takes a couple weeks but it's worth the money and the wait. Each belt costs approximately $100.00 to have delivered to your house.

Edit - I've had Blackhawk, 5.11, CP Gear, and any number of duty and tactical belts they all work for a while and then wear out they end up sagging and your gear hangs funny. The SOE EDC and the Ares Ranger are the only two I have seen last as long as the have and still keep going.

How are these belts held up?

I was also looking at 2 piece belts like the s&j hardware one. They just seem like they would be too thick... if your not competing can you just use the outer layer? Do you need keepers?

Can always try one out of ducktape.

If not try dstactical they are the wolverine supply of softgoods (tacvest, gunbelts etc.). You will definatly find some good stuff with them

Im not that cheap... I just ment around $50 instead of the $100 ones on the market. May end up with a cr speed
