There is a chance that I may be relocating from the mountains to Sudbury (I know it sounds crazy, but such is life). I have been before but haven't had the chance to explore the hunting out there. I know there are moose all over, but how is the deer population and such?

There are a few members from Sudbury on here - I used to be - I grew up just west of Sudbury.

Pretty good for small game - good fishing - moose are around, but almost impossible to get a tag unless you are part of a huge group.

I really enjoy ice fishing for speckled trout on the small lakes in the backwoods up the K&P trails north of Espanola.

Regards,
Rob

Espanola area has lots of white tail deer.

Moose north of Sudbury was always good when I lived ther 4 years ago.
Moose just east of town was good if you could get tags.
Bear was good and lots of birds.

Also Manitoulin Island is no too far off and plenty of deer there. When your hunting south of town, in the Burwash area be careful for elk.

HI I am in Espanola (45 min west of suds). Whitetail herd is growing fast. Good hunting on Manitoulin for Whitetail too. 3 days in the bush 3 deer for me this season so I can't complain. Lots of grouse, good goose and duck hunting on Minnow lake. Lots of Moose if you know where to look but as others said, no tags. Good walleye and pike fishing, lots of trout too. Salmon fishery is dead though. Drop me a line on CGN if you need any info or access to a a range when you are settled. Just curious...are you coming for the mines?

No, I wouldn't be going for the mines. Thanks for the input guys!

I'm in garson, born and raised!!

Great bear hunting (they're everywhere) lots of moose but the MNR never get out so they have no idea so no tags, lots of dear the past 5 years but no tags, lots of geese/duck, lots of grouse/small game (always see lots of wolves/fox/coyote). Great fishing, oh and TONS of potholes! Beware of cougars, and i'm not talking the animal kind.

Yeah. Definitely no deer around Sudbury. These were taken at least a 30 minute drive from town. If you are prepared to work for your deer, you may be successful. I still travel 12 hours to hunt moose because our government would rather feed them to the bears than give us tags to shoot them. Lots of black bears and great fishing. I would love to hunt BC some day. Welcome to Sudbury if you decide to come.

Nice deer....really nice racks, the bodies look small though, is it just the pics?
