Hey guys,

I've been browsing the site for a while and it's really answered some questions for me but the more I get into this world/hobby, the more questions I have.

I've had my PAL for about 10 years, I have a .270, .410 and 12g always want to get more but as you all well know, money is the predominant issue. I digress...

One of the first questions I would like to ask is that I'm looking to get hooked up with an upstanding local gun club as I plan on getting my RPAL in the next short while. Does anyone here recommend any or belong to any? Possibly point me in the right direction? I'm aware of a few that exist but I've heard rumours (which I'm not sure I believe) that you pretty much have to know someone to get in and they aren't very receptive to newcomers.

That's all for now and thanks again for the great site! I'll have many questions to follow!!

Boyd: I'm a member of two local clubs, and know a little bit about three more. New applicants are often introduced by members(best way), otherwise contact membership chairman(if they have one=these are all volunteers and don't really want the job). I do paperwork for Capreol Gun club newbies, and usually do the "club level handgun safety course", required in addition to PAL restricted before an authorization to transport(ATT) can be requested by the club for you. If you want to shoot centrefire rifle, the sudbury revolver club is out(not allowed). Decide how far you want to travel(15-45 miles), whether you want rifle, and if you want competitive pistol shooting of some type.
