I have a reverse comb butt stock from a remington 870 that i want to put on
a remington 1100 shotgun.
The stock had a 3/8 hole drilled with a tapered 1"hole drilled to meet up from the butt end.
I gave it to my uncle to drill the 3/8 to 5/8 for the 1100, who assured me he could do it, well The problem is when the 1 inch hole was drilled it was offset to the 5/8 hole. So now the spring action tube goes through the stock the washers and stock nut dont fit in line and there is not enough of a shoulder to screw it all tight. Also when it was originally drilled the access hole for the smaller
3/8 hex has a taper and was not done very cleanly.
What i am planning to do is wrap a 5/8 dowel with tissue paper insert it into the stock then fill around it with a compound. So that there will only be a 5/8 hole through the entire stock lenght. Then i can use it as a pilot and drill the 1 inch hole in the butt so everything is straight. There is really a lot of empty space to fill in around the dowel. The cavity is about 1x4" deep
What filler should i use so that i can drill into it and have it support the tension of the washer and nut needed to hold the stock to the receiver.?
Do you even understand what im doing do i need a picture?
Hope you can help
