With the AO scopes you can leave it set for parallax at 100 or 50. You don't have to change it for every shot if you're varminting. It's just really useful for target shooting. Personally I like to shoot indoors during the winter which usually means a 20 yard range. The AO feature makes this possible and at full magnification.

May I ask where did you buy your APV 4.5-14 AO from? It seems to be a very good value. They are $129 in US but the only place I have found them in Canada, White Falls Hunting Supplies in Winnipeg, has them for sale for $250! Sounds a bit high.
