Suggest a pistol for my wife.

My wife recently shot a .44 magnum Desert Eagle and really liked it. However, she felt that she would not be a able to shoot a lot of rounds due to the recoil. She refuses to shoot my Ruger .22 pistol because it is "wimpy."

So what would be a logical calibre for her to choose? We've not shot a lot of pistols but I am thinking she'd like a .45 ACP or a .40. My choice would be a .357 revolver but she likes the automatics.

Get her 357 Desert Eagle, she would be able to shoot it all day long...

If she's diggin' the kick then I don't blame her for the Ruger sentiments. I've shot one and while I loved the laser like accuracy it left a lot to be desired in the "feel" of shooting something.

If she shoots now and then go for a 1911. Especially if she has medium to smaller hands she would like the single stack grip. Hell, I don't mind it with my large glove sized hands but I'm thinking of some slightly fatter grips for myself.

The nice thing about the 45ACP is that it's got a healthy kick but it's spread out so it's more of a strong push than a big slap.

If she shoots a lot then a 9mm is the way to go if cost is an issue or you don't plan on reloading. As much as I don't like the plastic pistols I got some really nice groups from a G19. But it's a pretty fat and squarish for my hands let alone a "frail little thing" :D. If you can try out the CZ pistol line. I REALLY like the CZ Shadow that I bought as my first pistol. Spot on grouping and the heft of a real steel pistol. For a bit less weight opt for the CZ75B with the short dust cover that brings the weight down a little but more importantly back towards the grip.

Getting back to the 1911 option if you go with the STI Trojan line they are available in 9mm, .40 and .45 so you've got options. Or if you like the idea of buying Canadian the Dlask 1911 comes in the same options.

The wife shoots really well with the G19, and she is considered 'petite' in most circles.

If she likes 9mm, M&P, pink and you can find one.
