Suggest me a good set of QD rings

My knowledge of QD rings is nada, nothing. Never had the urge for them hence never bothered to enquire.

FF to yesterday, I picked up a slick little German fullstock carbine and it's just begging for a low power scope on QD mounts. It currently sports a Weaver type two-piece base and I'm planning on mounting a 1" scope tube. What would you learned fellers suggest I get?

Would I have to swap out the existing generic bases for a matched base and ring system, or can I get away with keeping the existing (solid) bases? Don't mind paying a little extra for good quality, just not as much as EAW-type quality... Thanks in advance.
 
Within last two months I bought 2 x Warne QD rings through Amazon.ca - very pleased to far - one set was for rimfire dovetail - switchable between 3/8" and 11 mm size by reversing the clamps; the other set is to go onto Weaver bases. Seem very nicely made. From reading, apparently want to set the lock levers to point forward - else recoil can tighten (too tight to undo) or loosen, depending which side of scope that you have the levers on, and whether putting levers up or down. As with most rings with recoil bar - just be sure to press forward so the bars are solid to the front of the slots - it might seem counterintuitive, but a scope will want to slide forward on the rifle, under recoil. Many think the scope wants to go back... (actually, I think the scope wants to stay still and the rifle goes back, underneath it)

You may have to bring them in from Europe and they are very expensive. But awesome.
 
For the last couple of years, I've been migrating my rifles towards the Leupold QR mount system --- this is the one the levers on the base and a simple notched post on the rings:

The low and super-low rings are extremely low relative to other ring styles, repeatability is good, and the price is reasonable --- bases run about $60 and rings $45.

I do find the one-piece QR bases to have a lot of unnecessary metal/thickness, so I've been using the two-piece bases.

I think the usual way to go with QD rings is to use a one-piece mount (unimount). Those, like the LaRue, can have QD attachment to the base.
 
Thanks for taking the time to respond gentlemen, lots of tips that I can use, wayyyy ahead of where I was this morning. I would not mind getting a new set of bases, the problem is that the rifle is an older Heym (SR20 in lefthand) and I'm afraid that the 24-hour Heym cornerstore is no longer open (shamefully stolen from Anvil of YouTube fame).

Edited to add: Based on the suggestions above I would really like to get a set of Leupold bases and rings but sadly they don't offer any for the Heym. Looks like I will have to pay-up and get something from Europe of possibly a set currently for sale on Fleabay. Thanks again for everyone who took the time to respond.

I got a set of Warne QD rings through amazon.com, shipped to Canada so fast and without issue that I was shocked. Amazon.com will tell you if they ship to Canada. I couldn't find them locally. Thanks for the tip about the installing to the front of the slots!
 
I have been using both Zeiss and Leupold CR mounts for years with no issues on two of my single shots that I use irons on as well. The scopes can be taken off and put back on with repeatability, which is why II use them!
