Suggest me a handgun.

For a $500 budget watch EE on this forum for a CZ75B. They go for around $500 - $600 plus shipping which is what you will end up paying for a new $500 pistol +taxes + shipping. They are well built, have a very good reputation for accuracy and reliability. Most importantly they fit your budget. You will always get your money back at that price point.

Looking to pick up my first handgun that i wouldn't need to replace if i wanted to get into ipsc or the likes. It's got to be 9mm to keep the costs down on ammo, i really like the HK USP 9mm and the sig p226 but unfortunately money is enough of an issue to not be able to buy ether. Right now id like to stay from the 1911's because i plan to get one a bit later down the road in .45 acp (for those special days). Truthfully I have been looking at the Norinco p226 clone (np-22) but i can only find very limited information with a search on google, and thus dont want to waste my money even if its only $350. Other then that i am fully open to suggestions, especially similar handgun styles to the USP and p226 but in the cheaper price ranges, so that i could still afford them.
I am fine with used. Preferably I would want to stay under 500 if possible.

I'd look at the CZ-75 SP01 (or the CZ-75 SP01 Shadow) and the Glock 17.

I would stay away from the "$99" pistol as it will only fill the void for now and once you get a quality one it will serve you no purpose.
I can't get over that... you can only use one gun? What's wrong with having a great target piece AND a cheap blaster? Your buying a gun, not getting married.

As some have said, you've already saved this much so just save a wee bit longer. I just bought my M&P40 for $700 taxes in and shipped to my door. the M&P9 is the same price and I've heard great things about the M&P. Glocks are in the same prices range and are dead reliable but I just find that Glocks have more recoil than they need to. I tried and Glock 22 and the M&P40 at the range the other day and the difference in felt recoil is noticable.
