Suggestion for high capacity .22 semi-automatic guns

It would seem that the government is classifying any tacticool 22 as restricted based on appearance. Considering how high the demand is, versus the number of guns that fit the discription i posted; it would seem that, if a company made a rifle to look like a standard rifle (ie. ruger 10/22) to have it aproved by the governemtn. But afterward, offer a complete replacement kit so that it looks entirely tacticool, it would set up a monopoly. This is in response to the S&W 15/22, GSG-5 and the Sig 522, which, will likely be restricted on looks. All i want is a tacticool rifle without the thin wiener mag :(. No wonder the VTR is advertised without the mag :p

LOL! It also fits the profile of what many of us 'want'.

What's your tinfoil hat size?

Farmer Harv, why the tinfoil hat comment? the gun community is 'typically' populated with self controlled disciplined folks and for the most part knows not to bring unwanted attention to themselves, why is this so difficult for you to understand????? Laugh all you want while your rights are being diminished by your very own stupidity.

Geez victor P, take a look at all hicap mags available and take careful note of the shape, may have something to do with the shape of the bullet, if you're all about looks take up tennis, obviously you are more interested on looking like you shouldn't then actually becoming proficient at shooting..... silly indeed which is why I was hoping not to feed this thread..

I was also looking for a tactical style 22 and came across one that looks just like an AK 47 (don't recall model) under 200.00 at a gun shop emailed yes its here but it's prohibited.

We can't buy a gun based on the way it looks and now there taking nonrestriced and moving them to the prohibited list? W.T.F.

I already have experience with shooting rifles, never having owned any, I've decided to purchase numerous rifles in the coming weeks.

If i were to get a tacticool rifle, I might as well get what i want. Obviously the shape of the round has to do with the shape of the magazine. I just want something with aesthetic and functional appeal, is that so wrong? Considering i'm planning to own several rifles, why can't i have one that is customized. A plinker that has the looks of a larger military caliber gun seems like a cheap and fun rifle to own.

Why should i buy something that i am not entirely happy with, when someone across the border can have nearly anything they want? I much rather get something that i want, rather than invest more money and time to have it the way i'd like it to be.

It appears that there is no clear-cut rifle of choice that meets all my criteria. Some sacrifices in function or aesthetics will be made.

I appreciate everyone's contributions.

I think i'll settle with a Ruger 10/22 and get a 1920s tommy gun stock

You people are ridiculous.

I HAVE NO EVIL, ILLEGAL, OR IDIOTIC INTENTIONS.

This summer, I'm planning to take up target practice as a new hobby. Unlike many of my university friends, I wish to take up a real sport rather than sitting-in all summer playing shooting games.

My choice of guns I want to purchase:

I want a good rifle:
-bolt action
-internal magazine
-iron sight
-shoots inexpensive ammunition

My final choice is a Mosin Nagant.

I also want a semi automatic rifle; unfortunately, the Canadian government gives me few choices of rifles with more rounds than 5. I really don't want to get an amazing rifle, only to have a 30 round clip pinned to 5. A .22 appears to be a go to caliber for the sake of a larger magazine.

The reason why I posted this thread is because I've failed to find any number of CANADIAN RELEVANT sources. My local gun store had poor information and selection. So, I turned to this forum which i hoped would help, rather than insult and taunt me.

Gentlemen, and ladies, if you don't want to help me, please don't reply to this thread.

Sorry, but how is a 7.62x54R an inexpensive round?

Thanks dizzy.

if you take a look at the design of the round **RIMFIRE** you'll understand why *MOST* long mags is curved/banana shaped.

=Why does the United States go to war?
=Why can't our government pay for our medical completely without screwing us an arm and a leg?
=Why can't my next door ###y hot girl wear less clothing when she's out?

=IF there's a clear-cut choice about everything in this world, damn we wouldn't have to be screwed by the HST now would we?

Well...
Not gonna bash you, but I swear I heard you said something about not wanting a Ruger 10/22...

And now here's my 2cents:

Good job on settling on the 10/22.
Spend some money and time to search for the 50rds drum mag. it's out there and it's available and it doesn't look like a Banana.
10/22 50rds DRUM mag that doesn't look like a banana from Fabsports

Drink the 10/22 tacticool-aid from FABSPORTS they have what you need.
Tacticool Package for 10/22 from Fabsports

And if you think you could keep this below $700~
Good luck?

*I spent way over the $700 mark with the rifle*
*just a P.S. you might want to get a mag loader for those mags*

I really don't understand why everyones slamming him so hard. I much prefer the look of the S&W MM&P 15-22, the Colt 22, and especially the Sig 522. (plus the sig's reliability is said to be unbeleivable)

I agree, maybe there's better ways to word his request, but he got to the point didn't he? The skinny "banana clip" on a 10/22 does look pretty goofy. Fabsports DOES have some pretty nice conversion kits.

But I really don't think there's any reason to completely jump on the guy, it's not like he was just complaining about something, and not looking better. He knows the 3 better options. Unfortunately... so does our government.

Here it is

Look no further, forget about that sr-22, rem whatever, m+p, fun-gun junk. Buy one of these (and a donor 10/22), and you will be the envy of most men (except me, cause this one's mine). Don't worry about those glock guys though, they don't know quality when they see it. Whoo, the rum tastes good today!

Nice gun deadman!

I think that is a great looking 22. Although, I'll probably go with the full out 1930s tommy gun, rather than the WW2 and a drum mag. setup you have.

Cheers,

Its a slightly modified promag, grafted a factory 10-rounder to it, and changed the guts to work properly. The black dog mags were not yet available. There is no comparison between the thompson from fabsports and other kits. Also, if you check out fabsports' site, you have the option of buying the "1927" style kit (rear sight, vertical fore-grip, etc). As for the cost, definitely more than a fun-gun kit.

Legal in California and Connecticut.
No export of the Kits outside the USA is possible at this time.

Figured drop a heads up. Kewl looking kit though!

Just so you know, I have this.....

http://www.myus.com/

They forward packages to canada very nicely, worth looking into if you are working on a car, or just shopping around for great online "lower 48 shipping only" deals.

I disagree. How has that attitude worked out so far? The reason why we had our rights diminished is laying down and not bringing unwanted attention, instead of raising our arms and protesting and standing united as gun owners. Now we have gun nutz like you telling us what we should and should not want?

Personally I think that a tricked out .22 is a farse on the ignorance of the liberal nonsensical gun laws, banning upon looks and looks alone. Any liberal that gets in a huff about one of these guns is then smacked with the cold realization that Oh, Its A F*&KING .22!. They make air rifles in that caliber!! I think that the RCMP banning some of these rifles may work in our favor with the general public. Even if they dont like the looks of them they surely understand that a .22 is not a threat. Most people, gun nutz or not, would find there decision arbitrary.

Give a dog a bone for godsakes.

What i thinks is that the Canadian government is prohibiting .22s that are, for example, AK variants because they don't want the police to respond to situations that are entirely not what they think.

I've talked to police about this, the officer told me that he is frustrated by the number of blank-shooting pistols sold on the market. When he finds himself in a confrontational situation with somebody holding a "pistol" he would take different action for the sake of the criminal's and his life if he knew that that gun is not at all deadly.

I would seem that this theory also applies to "scary" .22 rifles. There is a difference between somebody with a .22 and a real AR-15; thus, the government is trying to limit the number sold by making them restricted :(

I can definitely see why the government is so weary of "scary" looking guns. If somebody pointed one in a bank, chances that a gun nut will be there to yell out "hey, he's got a .22, just cover your eyes, and don't worry" is unlikely.

Then again....................if you want easy money, just start a meth lab...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jX0zWvYWBaI

I honestly doubt how many people will use tacticool rifles for mischievous reasons. Of course, its not too difficult for a criminal to make a "deadly" looking plinker...

So, all in all, this is a silly constriction on Canadian rights.....If i didn't want to become an engineer, i'd likely become a politician. Set a few things straight.

Just what I think,
Cheers.
