As many of you have seen I've had a dispute with my rifle, so going another route.

That being said.

What are folks having good experience with with light weight bolt action hunters in 300 WM?

Here are my wants...

-Fairly low weight
-No muzzle brake
-Decent accuracy, hoping for around MOA results.
-Capability to handle 180-190gr projectiles.

It is going to get scratched and dinged , it is going to be a dedicated hunting rifle.

Budget isn't set in stone but I am thinking I can get into what I want for $900-$1500 rubles.

Thoughts? Good and bad?

What I have seen for options.

X-Bolt Hunter
Savage 100 Storm
Tikka T3 Lite

Tikka T3X Lite - I have 4 now 223 Rem - 6.5 x 55 AI Swede - 7 MM-08 Rem - 338 Fed and All shoot good ! jmo RJ

What are you Planning on Killin that you need a 300 Win Mag to do it ? Just askin !

Fallow deer of course. ;)

Farmland open prairie elk, when I get drawn.

If it winds up being a decent rifle I'd like it to be my grab and go rifle, even though I have already some, just slightly lighter hitting than I'd like for those potential encounters.

I'd suggest a Kimber montana or Ascent 6lbs 13oz and 6lbs 5oz they come with brakes and thread protectors.

Or

Christensen Ridgeline 6.8 lbs again these have brakes and thread protectors...:)

Toss up between the Browning and the Tikka. I've never shot an x-bolt, but I have an A-Bolt that shoots well and BLR lightweight in 300 WSM that is pretty decent (iron sights). The BLR is punishing on the shoulder after awhile though.

The Tikkas I've shot have been really nice. Light, smooth action, shot pretty well. If you are okay with polymer and plastic, albeit well executed polymer and plastic, than Tikka would be my choice.

For a slightly lighter, more compact rifle, I would point out 300WSM in an appropriate action length.

However, if you're already invested in 300WM stuff, stick with it.
