suggestions for 300.win mag loads??????

I am looking for 2 things

1. A cheap target shooting load for a 300.win mag

2. A light load for 300.win mag like 110-130 grain (and yes I know those are very light for this caliber and I should buy a smaller gun so please no rhetoric or sarcasm)

Three things work VERY well for me.

68.5gr of 7828SSC over a 180 grain Speer spitzer
16.5gr of Unique over a 200 gr gas checked cast bullet
16.0gr of Unique over a 210 gr gas checked cast bullet

You're probably going to have issues with bullets in the 110-130gr range. I found anything under 180 grains in my 300 just wouldn't settle down no matter what I did.

I tried some 150 grain bullets, and I believe the other ones were 168 grain ??? I just couldn't get them to group. No buildup in the barrel or anything like that....the just wouldn't settle down and group. I tried 7828SSC, 4895, 3031, and I think one other powder too. No dice. I'm shooting a Stevens 200 BTW. The heavier the bullet, the better it groups. I haven't tried anything jacketed above 180 grains only because I haven't found any. The 180 spitzers will group to an inch.....and probably less if it wasn't me shooting them .....and that's good enough for me. I tried 180 grain boat tails, and they were ok, but didn't group as tightly as the flat based spitzers.

Good general purpose powder that will likely surprise you accuracy-wise is IMR4350. For cheap(er) but still usually very accurate bullet you can't go wrong with a Hornady interlock. If you are going with the light bullets for recoil-management purposes, I would still start with at least a 150gr. Much easier to find accuracy than the lighter fare. My 2¢.

Hands down great powder for the 300WM is Reloader 22 which I've used for 150gr-190gr bullets with great success. My go to load is actually a 155gr Amax in fount of 79.5grs of R22 which gets me 3290fps, and great accuracy.

175gr SMK with 76.4 and 178gr Amax's with 76gr R22 shoots nice too at around 3120-3150 fps. These loads are not extremely hot in my rifle and were found to be the most accurate out of my 24" barrel.

As far as "cheap" Amax's have always preformed well for me a a good price, although Reloader22 seems to be a couple bucks more per pound then some other powders.
