Hey guys,

New to the 858 scene, but just got one.

Been looking at parts and such, and I have a question on replacement parts. I'm digging the rifle, however, I find a little bit of play on front hand guards.

I'm wondering what people recommend for handguards

I'm wanting aluminum most likely, And Dlask and BC Tactical look great, just wondering if anyone has comments on fit or finish?

B&T is out of the price range.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks

I replaced my hand guards with the surplus ones in my parts kit, they fit a lot tighter. That's if you don't want a rail.

I don't think I'm going to worry about co-witness as it seems that most handguards don't really compensate for that.

I'm thinking I may try and get a mico aimpoint eventually.

I'm also wondering about muzzle brakes and pistol grips. Not sure what I want to do with the butt stock...

Just got my Ziess red dot I will post a pic of my rig for you later tonight when I get home from work.

Funny story - met a guy at the range with cz said he had put several thousand surplus through it I notice that he had the fab polymer handguard and upper handguard. He had put screws through them so they 'fit tighter together':D

I say isn't that a PITA to take off when cleaning gas piston he says I have never bothered, why? do I need to clean that areaLaugh2

My god I would hate to see what it looks like in there!!! Makes me wonder when buying used and people say they cleaned after every range trip you assume they know how to clean their weapon properly...

Whatever you go with for the upper handguard make sure its easy to remove and if there is an optic on it you will appreciate one that returns to zero after cleaning and reassembly!

The gas block is stainless and the piston is chromed, the only place he might get rust is where the paint rubs off on the steel upper HG, but its such a small area. So long as he cleans the bore (if its a CZ858) and any parkerized areas in the action that are exposed to gases then he should be fine. An SKS would be riddled with rust but the VZ platform is much more resistant to it

Does BC Tactical order direct? I'm liking there product, and I think that the pressure assembly will aid with retaining zero

Are you thinking about something like this?

Hell Mambo you will have to shoot it. PM me next time you are plaining to go up to the range. Maybe meet up there for the pumkin shoot.;)

Yea I really like that setup Satain. What grip did you change to? which butt stock adapter is that?

How do you like the straight adapter? I know most angle down a bit...which looks awkward.

I called BC Tactical today. I'd like to thank them for their time. I didn't realize they were a manufacturer and used distributors for their products. The gentleman on the phone was nice enough to suggest retailers close to my house.

That is an AR15 pistol grip from a company called Magpul it is there MAID grip. I used an ACE AK47 to AR15 grip addaptor and moded it abit after another thread that I seen posted by Stevo & DaveMcFaul.
The butt stock adaptor is from Dlask Arms Corp. it is there straight line adaptor and I like it. Although shooting with irons is not what it was intended for but is do able. The stock adptor really accels with a read dot type optic.
As for the handguard that is wierd cause I baught from them directly.

They sold direct in the begining, but it sounds like they only sell through distributors now?

That's correct. The gentleman stated that they will only sell 'overproduction' after a distributors order.

I took that to mean that is reliable orders 50 units. They will make 60 and maybe keep 10 on hand to sell through true own website

I'm heading to wanstalls in maple ridge to buy some goodies.

That was an expensive day.

Went out to Wanstall's and couldn't stop myself.

I picked up:

1.) BC Tactical rail (it's unbelievably tight - I don't want to ever take it off)
2.) Extended bolt and mag releases
3.) Fab defense pistol grip (Surprisingly really comfortable)
4.) NEA Rail stocked adapter

It's all bolted together - I love the quality and ease of dealing with this rifle.
