Suggestions for a .308 / 7.62 NATO Rifle?

Hi There,

I'm looking for recommendations for a good .308 / 7.62 NATO rifle. I've been considering:

- SOCOM II
- SOCOM 16
- AR-10

Any thoughts or suggestions?

HK SL8.... non restricted will be my next .308/7.62 purchase ...... to keep my Socom norc/HRA m14s company at the tac rifle range :D

I read a bad review of the HK SL8. Have you heard good things? I checked one out at the recent gun show in Calgary and it just didn't feel... right. *shrug*

I'm dying to order an AR10A2. That way I can feed both my M14s and the AR with the same ammo. :)

Hopefully that ammo will be more available in future too. :(
 
to be honest, I haven't shot one yet..... but i drool over the sl8 side folder version..... very tacticool.
hard to beat the norc m14s for value ....... VooDooMan has a real nice one for sale in the ee ;)

I just called the shop (who i will not name) and you are indeed correct :eek: :eek: good thing i wasn't runnin in there with my cash. The SL9 is availlable to law enforcemnt and fires a 7.62x37 subsonic... the sl8 is only 5.56 ..... so it now gets dropped from my list
The "new" guy got blamed for the misprint on the sale tag.... I shoulda paid more attention :redface:

m14 -springfield socomII

my two cents. the fun begins with the bolt ons.
 
Yeah - I like the look and feel of the SOCOM II, but the darn thing is restricted. So, only to the range with that puppy...
 
Get a shorty Norinco, you can shoot it anywhere.

There's one like it, minus the scout mount, in the EE right now. There's plenty of threads on the Norinco's. They're great guns, especially considering the price. Keep in mind, mine is shortened with Vortex flash suppressor, gas lock front sight, and USGI stock. It's not a $400 rifle anymore.

As Hungry would say, "Dont' buy one, buy two!"
