The barrel on my FV-SR is the meme chose...I was surprised how gritty it is. Great little rifle though, I love it.

Congrats on your choice, and I'm sure she'll be happy with it.

I find these threads usually boil down to Savage vs. CZ. Both fine rifles...I have a weakness for rimfires, and my suggestion is usually the same: Don't overlook the golden-oldies! An old Mossberg, Remington, Cooey, and lots more shoot like the dickens. They can be had for low cost, and compare with any of the new horses in the race today.
 
Plz take a look at canadaammo ns522 22lr. (These are not cheap norinco (I like norc anyway) they are made at the chinese olympic factory and have a nice finish) @ 249 for a forged bull match barrel and free shipping they are not to be overlooked. All of the reviews are very favorable :). Just waiting on mine now..will try and put up a review soon!

Those are both awesome guns- good call trying both Im bloody nuts about my CZ- makes sense to get a real nice looking/feeling/shooting 22lr since its the gun youll prolly shoot the most out of all of em if youre poor like me
