Suggestions for a cold weather oil.

It is not a bad idea to leave any product to freeze, and see what it is like before you apply it. There are some excellent low temp. greases and lubricants. I have shot down to -45 without problems. The firearm does have to be clean before the low temp. lube is applied. If there is any residual mild temperature grease, preservative or oil, it will surely stiffen up.

If you have access to dry ice, it's a great way to check out low temperature lubes. If the stuff is still working at those temperatures, it's good for the out of doors ....

After 44 years of blasting I find in -35+ any dry lube or good old 3 in 1 oil works for me. Remember a LITTLE goes a long way. I put a drop on my finger
and that's it...Its a microscopic covering you want,Not drip city..

There was just a show on history channel about the second world war, Russian invasion, the Russians mixed a *small* amount of gasoline in with there oil, and the guns functioned perfectly to -40, not something that I would try, but if your stuck in the middle of nowhere, and all you've got is your quad/truck/whatever and your gun, might be worth a try. I'm sure theres a modern synthetic thats much better.
