Suggestions for a Deer "bush gun"

Right off I thought of a Win. M 100 in .308 (which may not be too hard to find) a carbine so much the better. I have one in .308 and one in .284 win.

But the Ruger carbine .44 mag. would also be good. (I have always had a yen for one)

A 12 ga. slug gun would also work. I have a Rem. 1100 with a hastings rifled barrel on it. With a 2.5 power scope it shoots Federal sabots into 2 3/4 inches at 100 yards.

I also have a Rem 7600 pump in .35 whelen and a Savage 99 in .300 savage.

So when it comes to "Bush guns" I got it covered.

This would be, is my choice, for a number of reasons.
  1. Size/length-Short fast handling and fits well on the handlebar rack on the front of my quad when digging into the back & beyond areas.
  2. Powerful-Potent enough for anything I'm going to run into, especially at closer ranges.
  3. Durable-Stainless steel, although not a favorite of mine, does give it a little more ability to handle not only rough handling but also some of the 'Wet coast' weather especially loaclly.
