Suggestions for a good budget spotting scope?

I'm looking to buy a gift for a friend, and hoping to get him a budget level spotting scope.

Something that will work for him on a 100 - 200m range, but not cost a fortune, as it's simply a thank you gift for him.

Can anyone suggest a make/model I might want to check out?

I'd also appreciate if anyone could also suggest an EE supporting dealer that might carry some of the spotting scope suggestions, as i'd like to support a dealer that supports the board.

Hi avroe, my buddy just picked up a Vortex Nomad and it was quite nice for the price ($380 ish). I on the other hand bought a Leupold green ring spotting scope that sucked right out of the box, so I wouldnt recomend one of those.

Most any scope that retails in the $200.00 range will work just fine out to 200 yards. FS

You can get a cheap Tasco one off ebay for $100 shipping included. It will work just fine for that distance.

Ebay search for bushnell spacemaster II - calcium fluoride lenses - they run with leupold golden rings - average one sells for $100.

I know for a gift you might not want to go used, but there's a Bushnell Trophy in the EE asking $120. You probably won't find anything better or much as good that goes for $200 new.

give me a shout. I have a Celestron Ultima 80 that would fit your needs very well. Optics are well above its price point. This scope is like new and is my personal scope.
