Suggestions for a solid Varmint rifle?

www.6mmbr.com - .223 Info Page. IMHO Savage has the most superior factory barrels by far. However the Carbon Steel barrels are a Bit** to clean. I would recommend an Axis or Stevens in a stainless. I buy these guns, install a Timney Trigger for a 100 bucks to get a +/- 12oz to 1lb pull and for $600 out the door w/scope, whalla... i have a gun that shoots bug holes at 100 yrds with handloads for well under a g note. ;)

For me if I were you I look at the savage series with accustock and accutrigger. Good guns for the money.

I have three Remington 700, two are SPS Varmit, One is an older 700BDL. I just bought a Savage 16FCSS in 223. It has the accustock and accutrigger. IMHO, the Savage is a better rifle then the Remington for the price and especially the trigger (out of the box nice).
