I'm just trying to find the best ammo for long range shooting of a tikka t3 30-06. Both factory product and re-loads??. What specs for self re-load????
thanx..

You are opening a can of worms with those two questions.
First off no two rifles will shoot the same. While one may shoot "X" ammo really well, the next rifle may shoot "Y" ammo better. You need to buy several different types to find what yours likes best.
As far as reloading goes there is plenty of data out there, again you need to experiment with different loads, powder, bullets, primers, seating depth to tune the load for your rifle.
The bottom line is handloaded ammo, tuned to your rifle will shoot better than most factory ammo.

Another can or worms is the light bullet - high velocity crew vs the heavy bullet - moderate velocity crowd. Your barrel twist is a limiting factor here, but excellent results have been observed from both camps.

When you are evaluating ammunition, don't limit your testing to 100 yards. If you want long range ammo, it must be shot at long range, and the challenge here is shooting various loads, factory or handloads, under the same range conditions. By definition, shooting groups at long range takes time, and conditions of wind, mirage, and light often change dramatically in the space of just a few minutes, so the results on paper might be illusionary. Often most stable atmospheric conditions occur in the early morning.
