Suggestions for first 22LR rifle in bolt action?

Hate to admit it,but my Norinco FS 522 outshoots my BRNO,and for $199 you can't beat it,other than the stock, but even that can be rectified with a little work.if you have any doubts,Google it and check the reviews.

Maybe not what you had in mind, but I have a T-Bolt .22WMR (Browning) with the "target/varmint" barrel that I can't miss with. My only complaint is that the stock is plastic. I'd give my right nut for a wood sock for this rifle.

Yeah, I know its a big sacrifice, but I'm done producing offspring..

CZ-452 or 455 Lux.

Or, on the off chance you spot one, a Remington Matchmaster 513T. But they haven't made them in 60 years so that one might be hard to come across.

Really - a Marlin XT? And a Norinco NS-522? Ok, I'll have a good look over those. They weren't on my list. Thanks.
I think the CZ is going to be a winner when I have a few extra $ to buy the follow on to my first 22LR.

I factored price into the equation which makes the Marlin xt a winner. CZ quality and fit and finish is superior and feels a little better to hold for most shooters but a used CZ is about $400 to $450. Accuracy is about the same if not slightly better in the Marlin because of its famous Micro grove barrel. It is the heaviest stock barrel on the market without going to a bull barrel. I have a bunch of 22 rifles and a side to side comparison make something like the savage seem flimsy even though the savage is a great rifle and very cheap at $125 in you local Canadian Tire. The stock on my XT is walnut and the grain is too nice for a rifle that is only $200. I use to be a MTO licence tester and one of the biggest mistakes people make when they first get their driver's or motorcycle licence is to go out and buy the newest, most powerful and most expensive car or motorcycle. But here is the rub... you will get swirl marks on the paint and everyone drops their bike atlease once. If money is no object and you just want the best of the best then you are looking at an Anschutz. IMO you can't beat spending $200 on a brand new quality rifle that has history and a good track record. I have a CZ and a Anschutz gathering dust in my safe but I take out my Marlin XT and my Marlin 60 every day. Take the extra $250 that you would have spent on a CZ and buy your significant other something nice, or go out for dinner, or buy a 2nd 22 in semi auto or a shotgun or a 223 or 5000 rounds of ammo or send me the money.

The Norinco FS 522 is actually a copy of the Anchutz 54,and unlike the typical Norinco knockoffs, the action and barrel is superbly finished.all it needs is a good stock.....

Costs a FRACTION of the CZ455 and OUTSHOOTS it... (And yes,I've got one.....)put the difference into a good scope if you want

Hey ratherbfishing, just out of curiosity, where did you pick up your Norinco 22? Only reason why I ask is that I do not have one in my 22 collection. I have a CIL and it looks tobe the same action. I have always steered away from Norinco because they are made in China in the worse sense of the word and I don't have a problem saying that because after all, my ethnicity is Chinese. Where was your rifle made? I wouldn't mind having one in the collection. My only concern is fit and finish and parts after reading a couple of reviews but I do love the Anschutz's action. Thanks

Savage MkII with accutrigger is a tack driver and its made in Lakefield Ontario.

Just because its made here doesn't make it good. I bought a space heater that was made in Canada for $60 bucks ish. It shorted out and welded the plug into the outlet. The cord was on the verge of melting. Plugged in my $10 made in china heater that was 4 years old 4 years ago and it is still working perfectly to this day.

Awll dependent awn yer buddjet.
Old Winchesters are great shooters...............s'pecially the ###y Winchester 69 and 69A's.
T-Bolts, CZ's (yer flavour) and the last one.........Ruger 'Merikan shoots pretty dead-eye.

Buy sum decent optics fer it and go ker-pow'in............

Garoldtao....I got my FS 522 from Canada ammo,$199.The only detracting factor is the stock, but for $199,it's worth my time doing a little work on it.The only thing I might have changed is the paint,I would have preferred to use rustoleum epoxy appliance paint to go over the three coats of west system epoxy I applied, but I wanted satin green, not gloss black or white(they are supposed to have 'biscuit/beige but I couldn't find it)but the advantage of painting is you can't see the block that I filled in the oversized notch once it had been sanded and finished. If it gets dinged, all I Have to do is give it a light sanding and respray it to bring it back......can't/won't do that to nice oiled hand rubbed walnut
Yah,my rife accused me of having '14 .22's "which I adamantly denied....I have 17..
