Suggestions for first PPC pistol

I thought the current PPC Duty Class Champion was Shawn....not Roly. By the way, the Glock in Duty Class is Ok..but..as has already been said it does not have the mechanical accuracy to win at 50 meters. The Germans are using X6's now and claim when clamped into a vise they shoot tighter (not much) than the old PPC 9's.
My PPC 9 is very good, I've shot with my X5 and done very well but not quite as good as with my PPC 9 (5" slide). Handloaded ammo plays a big part at 50 meters too.
Remember as was already said, the duty class matches only go out to 25 meters....there is a world of difference between 25 meters and 50 meters.....

Yeah, my partners are shooting X6 pistol with handload ammo. There is an ocean of difference between them and me with my glock 34 and my factory ammo.

I'm not even in the race...

But I'll go for the duty class where they won't be so far...closer and faster can bring me back in the race...

I have an S&W Performance Center PPC 9mm with the 6" barrel and Aristocrat sights. Probably one of the most accurate 9mm semi's ever made. It has gone up against a Sig 210, STI's and the Sig X6 and came out on top every time. Please note the other gun owners were the shooter's, not me.

I don't shoot PPC but might in the future. Having said that, if the right offer came along I might part with this amazing pistol.

Hard to believe anybody outshooting Roly even in Duty class. Who is Shawn?
 
Hello all,

20-100 if your looking for a 9mm PPC capable pistol, you cannot go wrong with a PPC 9 in either 5-6". I took my 5" to Sweden this past summer to compete at the Swedish championships and world champs so I could use it for Distinguished s/a as well as 1500. I managed to bring home gold and a couple of silvers with it. I normally shoot my 6" PPC 9 in competition in Canada.

An STI target master in .45 would be my second choice. They will consistently out shoot the STI target master in 9mm. The X-5 and X-6 are both beautiful guns. The PPC models are very hard to find in Canada.

As for Duty pistol I've shot the same scores with my Glock 21 as I have with my Sig 220 1496x126 I actually went back to my G21 this past season. Gary set the national record of 1498 a number of years ago with a S&W 5946. I'm sure he sleeps with it under his pillow lol.

For 50 yard shooting you are better to take a real target gun like an accurized 1911 in 45 acp or a S and W M52 and turn it into a PPC gun than trying to turn a "spray and pray" action shooting gun into a target gun. Word of caution regarding PPC revolvers, Back in the days when PPC was really popular there were many revolvers turned into so called PPC guns by so called experts. Do some research into the shop that made the gun before buying a rebuild. The best stock gun for a beginner (in my opinion) is the Smith L frame with the. Patridge front sight. Neither the red ramp sights or the 4position sight will do the job at 50 yards. Hope this helps.

Anybody can do comments about a S&W PPC 9 6"?

Someone knows where I can find one? I would like to get a open gun for PPC...tested my 34 and it's clearly not competitive with metal frame gun.

I am in the market for a good PPC revolver. Please contact me if you have one.
Current one is failing to fire at about a 10% rate. Which is unacceptable, and I don't know how to fix it.
 
20-100, there is an unfired or nearly unfired PPC9 6" local to me. I can put you in touch with the guy who owns it. It's not posted for sale, but for the right price he might let it go.
