Suggestions for my first lever action rifle?

Isobar1999: I'm with you. Plenty of us grew up with tube-loading .22's. So no great mystery how they work. The Henry is merely a scaled up version. I've used both versions too, and see no advantage of one over the other...particularly when hunting. Far safer to unload, too. Now that Henry is producing their rifles with both side-loading and tube loading options, they really are becoming versatile rifles. That being said, I still prefer my 1873's for competitive use(Cowboy Action)...but, do like the Henry rifles for hunting tools. Well built, accurate and reliable.

Update

Ok, I bit the bullet and bought this Win 94 (1957 model) 30-30 on EE. Seems to be in great shape and comes with a Lyman 66 peep sight. Shout out to Ed at Wildwestprofessionals - a pleasure to deal with.

really like the 444 marlin. having said that, the .358 seems to be very much loved by those who own/use it, and it's versatility and shoot-ability seem to be top rate. i think i would give the .358 a try.
