Suggestions for new Forum sections...

I really like the forum the way it is - I think that starting out with the off the shelf, and then learning to build from there is a great way to start. There are great posts here on advice, and it gives you ideas on what you might like to do.

I agree, we have the same questions over and over, I think that putting a sticky or two at the top, with the different thoughts on Savage vs Remington vs Tikka vs Sako, might be the way to go. Easy reference for the noobs, reminders for the rest of us.

In the end, I think the most important thing to do is get new shooters interested in the sport, and help them out. Make sure they get a good starting rig for a reasonable cost, something that if they don't like it, they won't lose too much money on selling. Have some success at the early stages. When they are ready to move up in $$ for a gun, then they know what to look for, and what they want to shoot.

1/4 MOA is a dream goal for a lot of people, and we need to realize that for many, hitting the Bull is enough (ok, I like V's as much as the next person, but I'm realistic, I know my wind reading skills are still developing, and I'm quite happy with 5's :).

x2 sums it up well for me.

I think these last two posts sum things up very well. I hope it wasn't implied from my post that there was any suggestion that this was means to segregate or impose some sort of shooting "caste" system. Nothing could be further from my mind.

I also understand at the end of the day it requires work from the moderators to maintain so their input is paramount., having a place where shooters can freely discuss topics without fear of ridicule or scorn is what counts.

When all was said and done, I just thought that discussions concerning a scoped and pipod'd $500 factory gun and a $5000 unlimited Bench or F-class rifle could be put in better perspective in terms of how they are (or are not) developed and used in the "precision" disciplines.

I think Precission guns forum is okay and the customs fit in well.
I have made about 6 customs some target and hunting guns, Mostly with 700 actions with Hart barrels. the customs all shot sub 1/2", 308, 7mmwsm, 30.06, 280 rem with good work on brass and premium bullets, and primers.
But I also have stock out the box that where bedded and loads worked out that would shoot as well as customs, I have a old 222 rem in a Rem 700 HV
that has shot better than any custom I have owned but the deuce is a special little cartridge.
There was I fellow at range with a $4500 custom .308 that would have been skinned by this gun I watched shooting Wed & today, but then all said it still comes down to the nut behind the boltt
