I'm looking for a cheap .243 and i want to hear what you guys think.
I'm leaning twards a Savage but I kinda like the single shots. I don't care what kind of action or how many rounds it will carry. I just want good accuracy to around 200 yards. Here's what i've been looking at:
Savage 11fcxp3 ($400)
Remington 770 ($400)
Stevens 200 ($300)
Mossberg 100atr ($400)
Rossi single shot ($300)
H&R and NEF single shots ($300)
Remington single shot ($300)
What would you people suggest.

I've got a NEF bull barrel topped with a Bushnell elite firefly. The coyotes, deer and bear didn't know if it was a $300 gun or a $1000 gun.One shot, make it count

I have the stevens 200 in .243. I like it. I figure if I end up shooting it alot then I'll re-stock it with a Bell & Carson anyway, so why spend more money on a rifle that has an only slightly better stock (Savage). Aside from the stock and Accutrigger the Stevens is the Savage.

The Savage comes with the scope and rings for the $100.00 more and you get a black stock, not that silly looking grey one.

Savage or Stevens all the way. You can't beat their accuracy for the price.

My vote goes for the Rem 700 SPS, although the sub $300 prices on some shops selling the Stevens 200 is mighty attractive. Like you could get a Stevens 200 & scope it with an Elite 3200 3-9x40mm and still be around the cost of an SPS....

The NEF Handi-Rifle and H&R Ultra are no longer the only really inexpensive new rifles, but before the Stevens 200 and Mossberg ATR100 came on the scene I got a Handi-Rifle in .223 and find I'm still glad I did. Since you say you "kinda like the single shot" I'd encourage you to try one.

You can't beat the Stevens for the price! Shoot great right out of the box, they just aren't pretty.

From what i here i would get a stevens! but i just like the 700s to much!
Nothing wrong with the stevens thought, i dont haqve one so really should not comment. 700s i have a bunch like eveyone of them

Hi

If you go for a Savage or a Stevens - avoid the detachable magazine version. The entry level plastic stocks are not terribly rigid, no matter what version you get. With the cutout in them for the magazine they can be pretty tough to use.

The NEF's are pretty nice little rifles. Every one I have seen has shot quite well.

A little more than you were asking but for comparison, I just ordered a Remington 700 SPS stainless in .243 Win from SIR for $620 including tax and shipped to my door
