Hey guys, I'm thinking I want some sort of scabbard to fix to my pack. I often carry my model 92 trapper with me when I'm up camping and usually just strap it on the side of my pack while portaging/hiking. Thought maybe a scabbard might be a better option this year. I see some of those shotgun scabbards out there but they look like they might be to big for my skinny little trapper, I do not want something that will bounce around.

You guys have any suggestions, not to concerned about appearance and prefer something not made in China. Pics help too!

Eberlestock's backpack with the scabbard is about the only option for "not made in china" for a backpack with built in scabbard, very nice, expensive but very nice.

I bought a couple leather lever scabbards off ebay for around $40 a piece, they aren't padded or reinforced, but they fit my 94 30-30 nicely and can be strapped onto a backpack if you wanted to keep the pack you are using.

A picture of it with my 94 for reference of size:

I bought a nylon type scabbard for my Rossi and I own a leather one, the front sight snags on the nylon liner, I would go with leather.

The leather is interesting. Looks a bit to big though, would probably swallow up my 16" Trapper by the looks of it. The Eberlestock scabbard also looks not to bad and I think would work with the pack I already have. Not to worried about the sight catching on the nylon because I would only transporting rifle in scabbard not hunting with it so no need for a quick draw.

Check out a Skinner Sights . Com
I purchased the leather "quiver" for my 1895gs
Fits good, looks good, built tough.
Lots of other options on their site as well
Fast shipping......

Another one is Cochise leather .com
Very nice work, a little slower to get as custom made to your gun
Ordered one for my mares leg and he does beautiful work

Both out of U.S. So expect to pay duty

The sight actually got snagged very good while it was in the nylon scabbard, not a quick draw, had to rip the lining to get the rifle out slowly.
