Suggestions requested for .30 cal bullets for cheaper target practice

Might consider Norinco 308 FMJ ammo in bulk. About 50 cents per round. Can't hand load for that price.

Yup that is cheaper than reloading

147 FMJ CanPro $0.28
CCI 200 0.05
Varget (45 grn) 0.30
Brass (range PU) 0.00
Total $0.63

You care to share a link to the seller, thanks.

Had a quick look and found this -

http://www.firearmsoutletcanada.com/norinco-308-win-7-62x51-ammo-crate-of-1-000.html#.WHwXmvkrLIU

which is 58 cents per round tax included. I found Norinco 308 ammo on sale a while ago for 50 cents per round tax included. Need to watch for deals.

I just bought 3k of the 150 grain plated bullets from frontier bullets, $170/1000 they hold a hair over MOA at 1800 fps in multiple rifles I own, recoil is laughable but the accuracy is greater then I anticipated

I had 700 rounds of South African surplus that I got for less than 35 cents a round which I ended up selling for $70 cents around. Turned the sale money into components. I could have held onto it for shooting BUT I wanted much greater accuracy. I ended up going from 2 MOA (or more) with the milsurp down to MOA or better with my reloaded practice rounds. I also found that almost 3-4 out of every box of 20 I had difficulty closing the bolt or not at all when using them in my Sako.

Norinco 308 ammo groups 3 MOA consistently from my Zastava bolt-action rifle. Good for off-hand practice. The FMJ bullet can be replaced with a soft point for tighter groups and for hunting.

I like to practice hunting shots out to 200 yards. With 3 MOA I'd need a barn door! Just kidding,,,,, but it would be tough to hit my 8" plates with 3 MOA accuracy shooting off a stump, over a log, or leaning up against a tree. My off hands shots are up to 75 yards,,,,even that would be tough with that kind of accuracy.

You could shoot cast bullets at 50 yards. I buy DRG brand cast, gas checked 165 gr bullets for about $50/500. I suggest loading them with a shotgun powder like 700X, Red Dot or Unique. 10 to 15 grains.

Ganderite Been looking into this kind of load, to plink with.
have you tried Trailboss with the 308? Or is the small charge in a big case nothing to worry about with Red dot or Unique.

Thanks

Could try casting yourself. Its a whole new hobby of components finding! Lol But lead is possible to get free or close to it. What it would cost you for 500 fmj would buy your casting set up. Just a thought if you have the time to play around with it.

Resized 123gr M43 pulls.
Takes seconds to size to .308" with push through sizer, accuracy is plenty good for plinking.
Pentration is great.
$149/1000pc normal, $129 when on sale.
