Suggestions - Semi-Auto, Non-Restricted, 223/5.56 Rifles

Is this mini-14 tactical non-restricted or restricted?
Which XCR did you buy? Same question, non-restricted or restricted?
Thx

My XCR is non-restricted. To my knowledge, all XCR-L's brought into Canada are non-restricted. You can make them restricted with a shorter barrel. There are different barrel lengths available from Robarms but I have no idea if you can get them here easily (except maybe the pistol version). Typically, Mini-14's are non-restricted but I believe there are shorter barreled versions that would render them restricted but again, I have never seen them in Canada.

Well that's encouraging. So are some XCR's non-restricted in Canada? Someone else here said no.

Who is "someone else"??? Your question, as presented, is sounding a little "trollish" as I have never heard or read anything like that from "someone else"...

Your original post specified "non-restricted in Canada". You have multiple replies suggesting XCR. Now you ask the question: "So are some XCR's non-restricted in Canada?". Obviously they are or you wouldn't get that as a suggestion to your criteria. I'm baffled...

The Mini-14 Tactical model is restricted, because the barrel length is under 18.5 inches. However, the stock that the Tactical model has is really nothing more than an ATI Strikeforce stock, which are available on several dealers' websites. So throw one of those on a ranch rifle, find some 5/20 or 5/30 mags, get a flash hider (either one of the slip over the barrel ones, or get the barrel threaded for an AR one), and you are fairly close to the same thing, but with a longer barrel.

wolverine supplies does a good job of stating which of its guns are restricted or not. i believe that most xcr's are non restricted, but dont quote me. ive also heard that the xcr's and the mini 14 are not good target rifles, getting at best 2 inch groups @ 100y. but for someone who needs a cool looking semi auto nr, i would go for one of these models. i know there is a tactical stock available for the browning bar, but some retro fits may be needed to accomodate the magazine, and i dont know if changing the style of the gun would make it restricted or not.

What is trollish about it? I'm new to this and there's a lot to digest. I just got things mixed up. Chilllllll.

I thought so. Thanks fnrob. This sounds like a good alternative. And longer barrel should be at least slight better for target ability right.

Anyone know the scoop on this bad boy?:
Kriss Super V .45 ACP Carbine 18.6" [Non-Restricted] ~ $2000

As far as accuracy, reliability, recoil, accessories, parts
thx

Does anyone know if there's a good thorough list of all CURRENT CANADIAN NON-RESTRICTED SEMI-AUTO RIFLES - on this forum, or a link to one, or somewhere on the web?

Try search key: non-restricted black rifles and choose "titles only" & "3 years" on the "find posts" drop down. The answer will be the 6th link in the list...
