Did some scope swapping, and changed out one 36X Leupold for a slightly different one. Took it to the range, hung a 100 yard target at 50 yards, sighted in on the sighter target and shot 3 - 10 shot groups with Eley Match EPS with the tuner set at 390. The results are gratifying. Regards, Eagleye.

How come those groups are so big? Just joking. If I could shoot that well I would give up my day job.

That's tremendous shooting Eagleye. You must have had your carrots that day. How does it group on that target at 100?

Well Eagleye I guess the 541s and the 40x's will become safe queens after shooting that
Suhl.
Very nice shooting !!

And I thought my Anschütz sporter shot well. That's superb, Dave.

However, :needPics:

Let's see the rifle and the "tuner".

At Mission Rod and Gun Club on Saturday, June 27th, 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM., 22 Bench Rest, ARA Rules.

I would not mind losing to that just for the opportunity to see it in action.

FWIW, the three group average is .158" I have never shot three consecutive 10-shot groups before that were quite as good. I'll take some pics and post them for you Josquin!! Eagleye

Rifle Pictures have been added. For those unfamiliar with Suhl, they are of East German origin, quite competitive with West Germany's Anschtz 54. They are a unique rifle in that they came with barrels that often challenged the very best aftermarket domestic offerings. The factory trigger is as good as they get. This one breaks at 1½ oz. The action is very solid and the receiver is beefy for a rimfire. They have been used for custom builds a lot stateside. The number of Suhls imported has never been large. The supply is drying up, and parts can be difficult to find at times. However, it can be a bit of a crapshoot, since some were rifled with twists as slow as 1:19", which is too slow for many types of match ammo, particularly when it is cold. This one, luckily, is 1-16¼" I feel fortunate to have been offered this rifle, [Thanks again, Jeff] particularly since it was owned by a BR shooter before. FWIW, the groups fired were with Eley Match EPS, lot # 1006-01164 rated at 1059 FPS. This lot has worked exceptionally in 3 of my HB rimfire match rifles, including my 40X. Regards, Eagleye.

Bloody hell- that forearm's wide enough to hold a picnic on! :p

A very impressive piece of kit. Did you do the custom job on the stock?

:) Stuart

Stuart; I would love to take the credit, but cannot. The rifle was purchased with the stock already installed, bedded, etc. However, I have installed the 36X Leupold and the Harrel's Tuner. Regards, Eagleye.
